Meet KaNisa Alberto | CEO | Principal Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with KaNisa Alberto and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi KaNisa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My fascination with interior design dates back as far as I can remember. Creating beautiful, functional spaces that people love has always been my dream. In order to provide that service, I started my own business. Aside from that, I also wanted to be my own boss and serve as a role model for my daughter and other little girls. I consider interior design to be a form of art, and I use it as a medium for self-expression and artistic expression. My favorite thing to do is to help people turn their dreams into reality when they are designing their homes. The satisfaction of seeing the finished product and knowing I contributed to its creation is indescribable. From the beginning to the end, I aim to provide the highest quality experience for my clients. Our ultimate goal at Introspective Design is to provide our clients with a fun, stress-free, luxurious design experience.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Introspective Design Studio creates unique, vibrant, and extraordinary environments for its clients. In any interior space, we strive to create a healthy environment for emotional and behavioral well-being. Through improving the functionality and addressing scale, we inject soul into a design and tell a story. With Introspective Design Studio, we strive to develop designs that evoke both happiness and a sense of calm. This fosters confidence, empathy, pride, creativity, security, and energy. We also influence our clients’ minds, emotions, and well-being through our research-based interior design process. All members of the Introspective Design Studio team are well-trained and experienced in the areas of interior design, architecture, remodeling, and general contracting.
A key difference between us and other design studios is that we follow a research-based design process that involves client observation, research, estimates, and client understanding and approval. “NEVER, forget the client’s written APPROVAL, lol”. This helps not only our team but, the client to have a detailed understanding of how x dollars should be allocated. As a result, our team can predict and account for any issues or changes throughout the entire experience. Our goal is to provide a sense of security and comfort to our clients. We are absolutely fulfilling our duties if a client does not email, text, or call, but when I receive those calls, I know we are in trouble!
The most significant thing I’ve learned from leading teams previously as a Design Director and Project Manager is that it’s all about the process, the procedure, and the training. Every member of the team must understand their obligations and responsibilities in order to complete a design project successfully. It is the “PRINCIPAL DESIGNER and or LEADER”‘s failure to communicate and design well that will lead to everyone’s failure. Make a difference in your team by getting active, getting involved, and creating!
As a result of creating high-end residential and biophilic commercial spaces, whether just a guest in a space or a permanent resident, people’s minds are absolutely blown and their emotions are heightened. With the designs, Introspective Design creates, memories are literally born and experiences are felt like no other. It is our mission to influence, inspire, and design magnificent rooms. We are dedicated to your project and to you!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Sherman Oaks is where I spend most of my time, and I have to admit that this area has a special charm. There is no doubt that the picturesque scenery is worth seeing. Let’s grab some welcome-to-LA drinks first.
The One Up – is a local favorite that has really tasty drinks and a cool retro arcade atmosphere. The staff is very welcoming and the music is great! I think the most enjoyable part is having a cocktail and playing some innocent game of PAC-MAN.
Kravings – I’d just like to say that this restaurant has some of the best cocktails in town. Keep the Lemon Drop Martinis coming, my love. It has a very stylish aesthetic, and the food is pretty good too if you like Brazilian BBQ.
Nat’s Early Bite- It’s a little hole in the wall, but it has literally the most delicious breakfast in town. Let’s arrive early because the line can literally be seen from down the street! My goodness, if that doesn’t scream the best breakfast, I don’t know what does.
Sugar Taco- A cute, vegan spot with great music and a bubbly atmosphere.
Dixie Canyon Park- Perfect hillside hike
Universal Studio Hollywood- Always a crowd favorite, definitely need to check out Halloween Horror Nights.
Disneyland. There is nothing better than Disneyland. It is still one of my favorite places to visit. It’s a really cool experience for anyone of any age. Check out Star Wars. Don’t get me started on my nerdy stuff, but it’s pretty cool. If you’re not a fan of heights or drops, you might die in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Santa Monica Beach and Venice Beach- It’s okay if you just want to visit the beach and chill out! Venice Beach sometimes has amazing street performers and artists.
The list really goes on since I didn’t even mention the nontouristy places. It would take us a lifetime to see all the great places in LA.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In truth, I have to thank my amazing and supportive family (my daughter, son, and husband). They have always believed in my dreams and pushed me to achieve everything I set my mind to. Lastly, I must give credit to Larry Dow, Dow Development and Construction. He approached me through a recommendation from a mutual friend and really helped pave the way and inspired me to start my own business. If not for his help, connections, and mentorship, I would still be complaining about my designs not getting recognition or credit.
