We had the good fortune of connecting with Karina BONNEFIL and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karina, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I was always a Television fanatic and knew that 1 way or another I would end up on TV. My first love, first show that Inspired my artistic dreams was the hit comedy show “Languichatte Debordus,” Haiti’s most famous comic actor and playwright, Theodore Beaubrun. Beaubrun, who was known by his stage name Languichatte Debordus was a standup comic whose career spans 50 plus years. The show was about the life and experiences of a middle class man in Haiti trying to keep up with the Joneses aka Jean(s). I moved to America in 1987 and went to Overland park Kansas and the door to a TV life was introduced to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am A Star! Ok, to some people who are in a different status in their careers might find my statement a bit rebellious. I am a working Actor. Ive auditioned more than I booked but I know that every time I audition its a win towards the career, the life long career I want. Momentum begets work, i strive to stay active and tend to say yes to all that I book, under the SAGAFTRA umbrella. My first film booking was Bahama Hustle, I played Bechir Sylvain mom. He and I go a long way. I suffer from performance anxiety and auditions used to cripple me until i understood that the CD needed my help.

Being in classes saved me.Staying active is a life force in the artist world.
Though I want my brand to be known as a solid dramatic actress I tend to be in the comedic timing honors that some of the top comedians wish they had. I booked an Oprah Winfrey show: David makes man airing in July 2021. Ive booked Snowfall right before the Pandemic shutdown that eventually aired in march 2021. I was on the final season of NBC, Will and Grace. God has a way of placing me in the right direction no matter where I stand.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Grove at the farmer’s market. this September 2021 will be 10 years since I moved to L.A and i still feel like a tourist. I’ve never been to Vegas but ive crossed the border from San Diego into Tijuana to help the migrants there. I love the valley and tend to visit different places that regular people recommend. I’m not a regular person because Im a homebody and relish the time I spend at home. I do like to go Venture outdoors but most of these psychopaths i call friends are always trying to make me climb a damn mountain aka hiking. I need to go to Santa Barbara and Palm springs. I need to see more of California. Malibu is a great place to see the wealthy enjoying life without a care in the world about if the will qualify for the SAGAFTRA health insurance plan… Yep,im in my head a lot. I want a steady gig, a series regular role that leads to syndication is what Im always focused on and if a friend comes to see me i will take them around the city ti eat some great snacks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
God places people in your life, your journey to help you on your path to success. From Lisa Maile in Orlando, to Linda Fionte,Raymond Forchion to name a few. I was blessed to meet so many great leaders while searching for my voice and understanding that I’m enough.
