We had the good fortune of connecting with Kasey Elliott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kasey, why did you pursue a creative career?
I always felt like “traditional” jobs werent for me. I didnt go to college and never really considered it. No one in my family ever went, I didnt do good in school and I had no idea what I would have even wanted to go to college for. I always wanted to be an actor but no one I knew had ever did anything like that and there was nothing in the tiny town I grew up in so I really had no idea how to start. I took up photography as a way to express myself and put myself on camera through self portraits. The void never filled though, until I finally figured out how to get started on my acting career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I honestly cant believe I made it to where I am, and Im just finally scratching the surface of my dreams. I grew up poor, and from a broken home, in a tiny town in Michigan where there really wasnt any form of an art scene. I think one of the biggest challenges Ive faced is leaving that town. Almost no one I know left it. Its hard leaving family and familiarity especially with no money and no clue. I literally moved across the country with 300 dollars. Everything after that initial jump hasnt been nearly as scary or hard as leaving home. Ive really done a lot with this life so far,it feels like Ive lived 7 different lives. Ive lived in several states, Ive traveled alot, Ive worked on a weed farm, Ive been a stripper, Ive gone on tour with bands as a photographer. Ive pursued everything Ive wanted to pursue. to me life is about experiences. Im a very curious person so when any type of opportunity comes along I almost always say yes because Im curious and I want to have as many experiences as possible. I think the biggest thing Ive learned form all my experiences is you will be surprised where you end up if you just say yes to things. I know for a fact I would not be In LA pursing my dream of being an actor if it want for everysingle thing Ive done. Its all led me here and given me the skills to thrive. Every person I have ever met I am so thankful for them because I wouldnt be here with out those chance encounters and saying yes to things.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I havent really done any of the touristy things in LA besides Universal studios and I got motion sickness there so I might skip that one but I would love to go do the touristy things with my friends from out of town. Id really like to check out all the museums. I think disney land would be number 1, Ive never been. Id love to get us ticket to the magic castle, how do people get them?? Then Id show them the best thrift stores in town. Maybe a little people and price watching at Erowan. A trip to Joshua Tree. OOo and ther is this vegan food fest on wednesdays so Id take them there, probably hit up an arcade after,

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Everyone Ive ever known has played a huge role in where I am today. But id really like to dedicate this one to my mom and dad because even though they are divorced they both always told me I could do and be anything I wanted even though they never got to follow their dreams, they believed in me.
