We had the good fortune of connecting with Kate Porter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kate, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to start my own business because I am very passionate about my industry and my clients and their personal skincare journeys. I love helping people feel beautiful and comfortable in their own skin. It’s so great to see someone transformed by taking time to care for themselves and listen to my advice and trust the process.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started Beauty Katering years ago when I was an on set makeup artist. I eventually decided I wanted to do more for my clients so I decided to become an esthetician and then just fell in love with that side of the industry and then decided to open my open my own spa. I use all clean and non toxic products and partner with some of the brands from Credo. I love helping my clients find the products and right approach for their personal skincare needs. I love what I do so it doesn’t feel like work. It can be challenging running your own business for sure but it’s also very rewarding.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in the Hollywood Hills so there is so much to do! I always take people all over. So I’d start with breakfast at Beachwood Cafe then take them to see the Hollywood sign and Lake Hollywood. Then I would take them to Griffith Park and the Observatory. For lunch we would head down to HomeState and then go to the Soap Factory (hands down the best shop for gifts) then we would head to Figaro Bistro after visiting the Vermont Street shops and have some happy hour martinis. Then I would take them to the walk of fame and show them some highlights. La Poubelle for dinner and out to The Drawing Room and Ye Rustic for a night cap. Phew! They would be pooped but fulfilled 😂If there are good shows at The Greek or Hollywood Bowl it’s an absolute must. I pretty much live at both venues. Music is my boyfriend. There is so much to do and see so that would just be the tip of the iceberg.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I love my community and helping others so I’m very grateful for my neighbors and friends and I love Samantha Popa from Solates. She is fierce and fun and creates a magical and safe space for our community to do Pilates with healing and soundbath and card pulls. It’s fantastic. She also supports other women in their journeys.
