Meet Katherine Cheadle | Psychotherapist turned Pleasure and Intimacy Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Cheadle and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katherine, what principle do you value most?
I’ve been asking myself over and over again recently, “is this an authentic scream from my soul?” And I’ve been trying to do things in my professional and personal life that are in alignment with my deepest purpose. Recently, this includes writing poetry, embracing pleasure, and supporting clients with their emotional, relational, and erotic lives!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I write poetry about darkness and light. I weave in flavors of BDSM, shadow work, eroticism, death, shame, grief. I believe we can only meet others at the depths of which we’ve met ourselves, and I use my art as a portal to go as deep as possible. I believe the more darkness I have the capacity to embrace, the more love and light I can bring into the world. I believe psychotherapy is an art and the way we relate to the world, tell stories, and express ourselves is integral to mental health.
Sharing my poetry has definitely been an edge for me, but I believe we all have a responsibility to create. Once I gained the courage to share, I realized how powerful poetry can be as an expressive art form.
It is my hope that my poetry inspires others to play in their shadows and explore their own darkness. It’s my hope that my poetry helps individuals feel their emotions in a new and different way. It’s my hope that by sharing my art, others will do the same!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love my community in Long Beach. We would spend time visiting the coffee shops, grabbing dinner at some of the local restaurants, and spending a lot of time at the beach. We would do Yoga on the Bluff, walk around in Belmont Heights and Retro Row, and see where the wind takes us.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have so much gratitude for my great grandmother whose spirit has influenced me to follow the nudges and continue studying the things that allure me. I also would not be doing this work if it wasn’t for my Fit For Service community. Joining FFS was singlehandedly one of the best decisions of my life. It has given me so much permission to be the fullest expression of myself, which of course, allows me to do the same for my clients and community.
