We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathy Kaehler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kathy, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Recently I was asked to co-host a brand new podcast called Risky Business with the Coverage Queens. Previously, I had hosted my own podcast called Kathy Kaehler LIVE which came to an end a few years ago. When this opportunity to co-host a new show I was so ready. Risky Business is a weekly show that talks about the business of educational technology and how tech devices affect our lives inside and outside the classroom. The show is meant to inform EdTech leaders, school administrators, and parents about the advantages and risks of using educational technology devices through lively and open conversations with K-12 leaders, business professionals, health and wellness experts, and rising stars in the EdTech space.
The timing couldn’t be better for this show as we have just spent a year in our homes using more technology than ever. Interviewing experts in the fields of science, medicine, psychology, nutrition, and others to learn more about the impact of technology on the human body. Tech is here to stay and sharing everything I learn from doing this show is my way to help others.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of helping people learn how to be happier, healthier and bolder through health, fitness and inner beauty, My commitment to empower women who are entering midlife, but unwilling to let their fit, fabulous and sexy selves go. Especially since going head first into menopause before turning 50 has given me the experience to share my journey with other women.

I’ve spent 30 years working out, teaching, training, and cooking side-by-side with health, fitness and positive-living icons like Jane Fonda (my boss at one time), Katie Couric (my Today Show on air workout buddy), Leeza Gibbons, and the Kardashians.
Yes the Kardashians…Kim and Kris and yes I have stories. However, things came to a screeching stop when I had double hip replacements in my early 50’s. I took a big risk and opened up to my fans about the fears, nasty scars, and everyday struggles as I worked through them, never holding back. One moment I’d like to not remember was my inability to put on my underwear because I couldn’t bend forward from the stitches. As scary as these moments were to live them it was equally as scary to share them out loud. These emotionally-charged stories have allowed my audiences to see and connect emotionally with me as a real person who understands and shares the same worries and struggles, and best of all, I really, truly CARE.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since I’m all about healthy eating and healthy living here are my favs. Juicy Ladies on Ventura Blvd is an awesome spot to grab a juice to start the day. There is nothing like walking the beach in your bare feet. I’d head to Zuma Beach and start walking. Exercise will build up an appetite and that means a quick drive through the canyon to Erewhon Organic Market in Calabasas. Absolutely the best. Just opened is the Roslyn Salt Cave on Ventura Blvd in the Valley. WOW what a way to spend the afternoon. Meditation, healing, relaxing, just a basic chill out! Anyone care to join me for this healthy day of fab?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My co-host who created our show is an extraordinary woman. My friend, Bliss Landon is a longtime Insurance Specialist and the Founder, President, and CEO of U-PIC Insurance Services, Inc., where she provides leadership and direction to her senior management team, and dictates the overall culture of the organization. She grew her business from zero to a multimillion-dollar company. Achieved pen authority with underwriters, enabling her company to process its own claims. Bliss also helped develop proprietary claims software with 29 years of historical data for claims management. However, it was her second business called School Device Coverage’s success that opened the door to create the Risky Business Podcast. I know whatever Bliss puts her attention to will thrive.
