We had the good fortune of connecting with Katy Pritchett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Katy, what role has risk played in your life or career?
About four years ago I started a small production company called Production Vagabond. We take brands down to Mexico to create unique content that isn’t otherwise achievable in the states. Production Vagabond blends my love for traveling, photography and fashion. Producing and shooting these jobs is a challenge and always so rewarding. You really can do anything you put your mind to. I plan to expand my destinations for these productions once the world is open again.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Growing up in Vermont, I was raised by artists. I was so fortunate to grow up around art, music and travel. Vermont is such a special place I hold dear to my heart. It’s pureness and natural beauty has always influenced me. I consider my work to be pretty minimalist. Less is more.

I am proud that I have been able to sustain and grow a freelance photography business in a highly competitive industry. It can be challenging and heart breaking. The most important lesson I have learned is to be true to yourself and your vision. If you make art from the heart, people and clients will recognize and follow suit. There is a lot of rejection. You must maintain a tough skin and not take it personally!

I am excited to grow my production company Production Vagabond. We will take your brand to unique locations, providing you with content that will increase sales and brand recognition.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Coming from the east coast, Silver Lake and Echo Park have always felt like home to me. The European-like backdrops and artistic community make me feel alive here. There is so much to do in LA. A hike in Griffith Park, a seafood lunch at The Reel Seafood after surfing in Malibu, dinner at Cafe Stella in Silver Lake followed by a nightcap on their patio.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister Elizabeth Pritchett is one of my biggest cheerleaders. LA based as well, she is an architect and artist in her own right.
