We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kayla, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Balance to me is everything in life. A healthy balance that is. My balance has definitely changed over time as I’ve grown and learned in life.
When I was younger my balance of life was just dance and sleep. Which honestly is not the healthiest lifestyle. I have now found a beautiful balance in life filled with work that I truly enjoy doing (which helps so much), self care, having a social life, spending time with my wife, making sure I take time to connect with nature, eating and cooking healthy, getting good sleep, and of course dance…even though it’s mostly dancing in my living room right now.. But sometimes dancing in your living room is exactly what you need.
I believe if you have a happy, healthy balance in life it will create a positive life. But it definitely takes work and practice to create a balanced lifestyle. You must be patient and kind with yourself and remind yourself that even doing some of your goals are better than none at all. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Especially nowadays, times are extra tough. Don’t forget to love yourself, treat yourself. And of course work hard, play hard… balance.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart I believe is that no matter what art I am doing it comes from my heart. I always find a way to connect with a material in an emotional way. It will always start from within and that’s what makes my light shine so bright on the outside. The reason I am where I am today is because I took risks, never gave up, always followed my heart, stayed true to myself and what I wanted out of life. It was not easy. There were lots of challenges, but learning how to have balance in my life has gotten me closer to my goals and has made my life that much more beautiful and enjoyable. What you put out in the world comes back to you. You have to be patient and find the balance that works for your life.
I want the world to know that I am all about kindness, peace, and love. I believe you should always carry those three emotions in your heart. Not only for others but for yourself. In everything I do I truly try to apply those feelings which I believe creates a positive.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite days are spent at the beach with my fiancée. So we would all wake up at a decent time and have a green juice as we pack the yeti cooler! We would then go to Brews Brothers in NoHo and fill up our growler with their best IPA and order some of their sandwiches to go. All of their sandwiches are to die for but my favorite is definitely the tuna melt. Best tuna melt I’ve ever had. Not only do they have amazing beer and food, the owners are just the nicest people. Highly recommended spot for any occasion. Thank you Brews Brothers!
So after that stop we would take our sandwiches and beer to Malibu and kick it oceanfront. Soaking up the California sunshine, riding waves all day, the smell of sunscreen, and feeling sand between my toes while having an IPA in my hand is a 5 star day to me.
After watching the sunset on the beach we would pack up and head to the Reel Inn for dinner in Malibu! Super yummy fresh seafood and more. They also make a delicious Bloody Mary.
After dinner we would head home to shower and get into our comfy cozies to watch a movie and relax. Want to get a good night’s sleep so we can go play outside again!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First recognition I would like to give is to my beyond perfect wonderful wife. She is my rock. I am an extra sensitive, stubborn, wild human being and somehow she handles me flawlessly. Through all the ups and downs of life there is no one else I would rather have as my partner. She keeps me going. Thank you baby, I love you.
The second recognition goes to my beautiful loving parents. They have always been so supportive of my dreams and never once questioned my path. From teaching me how to put my hair in a bun, driving me to all my dance lessons, making sure I have everything I need and more. I couldn’t have asked for better supportive parents. Thank you mom and dad. Couldn’t have done it without you. I love you.
