We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaylyn Ryan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaylyn, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a career as a tattooer because I’ve always been passionate about art and self-expression. I think tattoos are a powerful form of storytelling and personal identity, allowing individuals to share their experiences and emotions through body art. I love the idea of creating lasting pieces that hold deep meaning for my clients. Being a tattooer combines my art with the opportunity to connect with people in a meaningful way, and bringing their visions to life is incredibly fulfilling.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is inspired by the stories of the people I work with. What sets me apart is my focus on creating meaningful, custom pieces that reflect each client’s unique journey.

I’m most proud of the connections I’ve built and the impact my tattoos have had on people’s lives. Each piece represents a moment, a memory, or a transformation.

My journey hasn’t always been easy. I faced challenges like self-doubt and the desire to continuously improve my skills. Embracing feedback and dedicating myself to learning from every experience has played such an important role in my career. The lessons I’ve learned include resilience, the importance of community, and that creativity flourishes when you stay true to yourself.

I want the world to know that my “brand” is about more than just tattoos; it’s about connection, storytelling, and celebrating individuality. I’m grateful for every client who has trusted me to share their stories through my art, and I look forward to continuing this journey with all of you!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had friends visiting, I’d start with a trip to the Huntington Botanical Gardens, which can take an entire day in itself, or a nice hike up to the waterfalls at Eaton Canyon.

There would definitely be a lot of food involved….Los Angeles has some incredible Korean BBQ, taco trucks and Italian restaurants. Eastside Deli also has my favorite sandwiches to grab and bring to a beach day.

I would probably take them to a show at The Comedy Store or see if any bands they like are in town since there are plenty of venues in the area.

The flea markets (Los Feliz, Pasadena, Rosebowl) are all great, and the weekend farmers markets are also a go-to for me.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To my incredible friends and clients,

I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support throughout the years. Your trust and loyalty have made this journey truly amazing. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your stories and for making my passion a reality. Here’s to many more years of art, inspiration, and unforgettable memories together!
