We had the good fortune of connecting with Keisha Montfleury and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Keisha, how does your business help the community?
Being the founder of 2 companies (one of them being a 501 C 3 non profit, and the other being an LLC), BOTH businesses focus on the HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT of our young girls. What do I mean by that? Well I am so glad that you asked, I would love to explain further. First let me share a couple of statistics with you: Did you know that 7 in 10 girls believe that they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school, and relationships with family and friends or That 75% of girls with low self-esteem reported engaging in negative activities like, cutting, bullying, smoking, drinking, or disordered eating Well if you are anything like me, these statistics can be alarming…and then add on the fact that I was one of those girls with the low self esteem making poor choices due to having low or no confidence. So Abundantly Authentic and HandiWork LLC BOTH have a PURPOSE which is to support our girls ages 5-11 in having a HEALTHY CONFIDENCE so that she is not giving into negative behavior such as bullying and self-harm. You see, we believe that it is SUPER important to NOT only tell our girls the importance of caring for herself, but through our organization we provide necessary, practical tools, resources and programs that will allow our girls the greatest chance to practicing these things so that she will be more successful in caring for , valuing , and investing in herself.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Both organizations purpose is to encourage our young girls to know their value and worth. While HandiWork LLC is community based, Abundantly Authentic is a faith based organization that encourages our girls to know their worth through Christ. . It has been such a scary but amazing journey that I am still going through. From leaving my job of 10 years to make sure that the companies had the greatest chance of being successful, to making the proper adjustments in my family structure, friendships, and most of all my mindset. What makes the organizations vastly different from others is that I am personally LIVING out everything that I teach. Our foundation is based off of the 5 Keys of a Healthy Confidence which are: Beauty-FULL Purpose Oohh La La (Self-Care) Journey Nourish and Investment And what I like to tell everyone, ESPECIALLY our girls is that these things that time, intentionality, practice. And because I am a living , breathing testimony as low self esteem is something that I have struggled with (and knowing the consequence that comes along with that), has made me more committed to making sure that our girls get what they need for a healthy social emotional life.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow! I really love this question because this is one of the things that I ask my girls all the time (it’s in our Journey workshop). So I have been able to hear other peoples point of view on where they would like to travel and why, and now I get to answer the question for myself. If a best friend of mine was visiting the Inland Empire Area I would take a few places, ESPECIALLY if it was a whole week and because I live right in between Los Angeles and San Diego First I would take them to the Los Angeles area, where we would visit down town L.A. do a little shopping in the garment district… make sure that we get hotdogs from the local street vendors, and we would go to Hollywood to take a look at the Hollywood stars. Then we would spend another day going to San Diego where we would go to the beach, and downtown San Diego spending our day there making sure that we eat some good seafood.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
