We had the good fortune of connecting with Keldamuzik and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keldamuzik, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well, as a recording artist I’ve taken on a lot of projects on my own and learned how to write emails, send out newsletters and make cold calls to promoters. This has taught me a lot of not only the music entertainment industry but as an independent business owner, especially when it comes to managing tasks and meeting deadlines. I disciplined myself and create multiple tasks and I make sure to meet the deadlines for those tasks even if it’s at the last minute. I’ve always been told that I get the job done!
As I kept running my business I decided to take on other projects for artists as well as dabbling into film/TV and the fashion industry. Now I’ve hired a team of people who have expertise in their field of work, and they apply those skills to helping me run my business. The thought process behind this all is to study your competitors and what their doing, and figure out what is missing that needs to keep your business successful. Take everything on step at a time, do not rush or else you will lose time and most of all MONEY!!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a female rapper, actress, talk show host, producer and entrepreneur. Yes I multi-task a lot! But I love it and it keeps me happy everyday. I’ve released 4 album projects, have toured in Tokyo, Japan, Barbados, St. Maarten and Antigua. My music has been placed on major networks, the latest one that I’m really excited about is my song “I Don’t Care” featured on The Real Housewives of Atlanta on Bravo TV.
I guess what might set me apart from others is that I take on the role of being in front of the camera and behind. But to be honest, many artists are doing more than just one thing nowadays because we are able to.
The entertainment industry is not an easy business. It may be one of the wealthiest business but its very very hard. Starting out its all about having a good product and networking with the right people who can further your career. You want to be around others that have the same interest as you and learn from people who are established in your field of work.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my best friend to the beach, Muir Beach and Stinson Beach in Mill Valley. We would go swimming, chill on the sand and jump around to different restaurants and shopping outlets within the area. I would also take her to Mountain Mikes Pizza for the Chicken Club pizza which is my absolute fav! I would also take her to the Wharf in San Francisco, we would be like tourists and ride the tourist bus and go site seeing around the city because it’s interesting. Then we would probably head out to Santa Cruz Beach board walk and get on the rides, enjoy the weather and chill out. I also recommend going to places such as Plank in Oakland, Hello Stranger Bar to have a good time.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes! I would like to give a shoutout to EKTA Corporation. Without their assistance, I wouldn’t know much about running my business and managing all the tasks that I have. I appreciate their determination to helping me get things right. I also want to give a shout to to B. Nichole and Diamond So Sexxi, although they are very busy talented ladies, they’ve taken time to assist me with running my podcast show, getting ready for appearances and producing great content. Thank you to you all!
