We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Graham and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kelly, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
You have to believe in yourself and believe that you are enough. That mindset can be hard to reach but it’s a major reason for my success and why I keep going. We are all worthy of achieving our wildest dreams. You just have to be yourself and go get it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a proud creative multi-hyphenate butterfly. With everything that I do, I am by far most excited about my work with Not Your Mom’s Kitchen. It’s a no-frills multi-media platform for cannabis curious chefs that includes recipes, a blog, a TV show, and hopefully more coming soon (think Martha Stewart of weed type empire on its way)! It’s my baby and I think we are doing things that no one else really is in cannabis. We deliver digestible information in a way that is approachable and anyone can apply it to their daily lives. I’ve had a lot of twists and turns to get here but I really overcame any challenges with good old perseverance. Above all else, you have to believe in yourself, work hard, and follow your heart. If I had to pinpoint one thing I want people to know about my brand is that at its core, my brand is about letting go, being yourself, and having some fun. We only get one life so live it up.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m all about catering experiences so it would depend on the friend. That being said, I would definitely start out with breakfast at my place. I’m an expert brunch chef so anything I make is going to be cheaper and equally as tasty as anything in LA. Then I would take them to some art galleries like the Gagosian in Beverly Hills, Blum & Poe in Culver City, Hauser & Wirth in the Arts District, and maybe pop by LACMA or the MoCA too. There are so many good restaurants in LA so we would have to sprinkle some eating in there too. For drinks, we could hit up Bar Calo in Echo Park or Ace Hotel in DTLA depending on what type of vibe we’re looking for. Gotta do a hike as well, so maybe head to Topanga Canyon and get the best of both the mountains and the beach. Then kick it on the beach with a fresh coconut with a straw stuck in it and a fat joint. That sounds pretty perfect to me.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I of course have to give a shoutout to my Mom, Martha Stewart, and my Dad, Snoop Dogg. Only kidding guys, but they have both been influential in my path and I would like to think that one day I’ll get the privilege of breaking bread with them. I also have to thank my ride-or-die Killian aka Shanita Blunt for his unwavering friendship, my producer/editor Shane for dealing with my shenanigans on set, and my partner Justinian for always encouraging me to think out of the box.
