We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Sarri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to start a more concrete business model that will reflect what I want to represent as an artist. Main goal is to reach for new perspectives that envision new artistic horizons always with an open mind and room for experimentation. Also, an amazing opportunity to collaborate with filmmakers and create cool things. Overall, to help disenfranchised communities and individuals that really need to be under the spotlight.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I recently founded my production company, Curly Apricot. I always aim to collaborate with talented creators from diverse backgrounds so as to tell stories in order to give back and establish a new way of watching and experiencing content. We are an amazing group of talented female artists who create content, mostly non-fiction for now, from development to post-production. One of our shows, LA Locals, features a variety of Angelinos or LA transplants answering a series of questions related to LA. Curly Apricot is here to stay and make an impact, always with a fresh perspective while striving for diversity and inclusion in the industry. Stay tuned!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So many things!!! I would include the most important and must go-to in the city! For Dining: The Ivy, Malbec, for a quick bite: Compton Vegan, Simply Wholesome, for hiking: Vasquez Rocks Natural Area (a little bit out of LA), for ice-cream: Dolcenero Gelato on Main str, for a walk, hang out: Manhattan Beach, for a car ride and take cool photos: Mulholland Drive, and 101 part in DTLA to see it at night.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I won’t be original. I would like to dedicate the shoutout to my mom, Vicky, for the help and support in everything. And also, to my three siblings: Kalliroi, Giagko, and Maximo who are a big part of my life.
