We had the good fortune of connecting with Ken “Aka MrGentleman” Pyle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ken “Aka MrGentleman”, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking

Risk to me is a very big thing especially if you’re a person who has been shy all their life because you were picked on as a kid everyday and because of that i end up losing confidence in myself but sometimes if you really wanna do something you love you have to go out there and take some risks and because of that i never gave up on my dream.

What role has on taking risks played on my life/career it has taking a big part being a shy kid that was bullied and dealing with speech problems that I had as a very young kid I never thought I would end up having a podcast show and having a podcast show for 3 years (made 3 years January 20th) and many people relate to my personal story and inspire them to take the same risk i took because they was inspired by me for taking big risks that end up starting a podcast on their own so no matter what always take risks.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Over the years I done many things, I was a songwriter turned into a R & B artist and formed a music group with my friends from High School and one of our song was played on the radio on Power 1051 fm in New York City, Then became a club Promoter and promoted at the hottest spots in NYC ( like Club Rebel, Club Octagon, Studio 21, Katra and Tajs) met a lot of people in the nightlife industry. Later became an actor and was taught by Legendary Acting Coach Melvin Williams that got me 2 off broadway shows ( The Zoo Story And King Lear) which was amazing and one of my hardest experiences. I then became a podcast host in 2019 with 2 shows MrGentleman Lifestyle Podcast and The Premiere Boyz Podcast which was something I always wanted to do was get into podcasting/radio but I didn’t do it sooner because I was insecure about my voice and speech because I had speech problems as a kid and was bullied behind that which took me a while to get into everything i wanted to do until i was an adult .

How I overcome all the challenges I been through was because with everything you go through it always come with a lesson just have to learn from every mistake and go harder so mistakes won’t happen and also dealing with social anxiety made it harder for me to really do many things but if you want to do something sometimes you have to step out the box to get it done.

What I want the world to know about my brand is that starting my podcast it’s really helped me grow as a person it allowed me to tell personal stories about myself where I never thought I was able to tell but I felt it’s fair for the world to know my true self positive or negative because all these things I speak about is what makes me “Me” and I don’t wanna give a water down version of myself. I appreciate the many guests that had the chance to tell their stories on my platform where other platforms never give them the chance that they deserved and being able to do something fun while doing something that you love which is always a great thing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hmmmmm!!!!!! good question because NYC have a lot of amazing spots but also we are losing a lot of amazing spots but if I have the opportunities to show you around I will take you to Brooklyn Bridge Park/ Brooklyn Heights Promenade which nice spot by the water with restaurants, skating rink, a swimming pool and many more especially a fun summer place to go. I will also take you to my favorite Thai restaurant called Lantern which is also in the Brooklyn Heights area, very low key but one of the best Thai food I ever tasted. For Nightlife fun Taj on 23rd st between 5th and 6th NYC always has good music, good crowd, good food and always known to have a good time. In New York City it’s always something to do. You just have to go out there and look for it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to thank God for waking me up everyday in the morning for my life, health and strength and giving me the chance to show off the gift that he gave me. I want to thank bros from The Premiere Boyz Podcast who are also my friends from High School for helping me during my podcast journey and supporting my vision when nobody else did.
