We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenzie B and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenzie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
There was a moment in my life where I sat on my bed and said to myself, “What is my hobby? What is my niche?” I wanted so desperately to find something that I can call my own. I’ve always been a naturally artistic individual, but it seemed as if my creative interest came to a halt. Shortly after that moment on my bed, I became inspired by the art of yoga and meditation, thanks to some friendly yogis at Equinox in Santa Monica, CA. Along with that came the interest of essential oils and crystal healing. My journey began almost immediately after purchasing my first Black Tourmaline ring that was handmade by a local artist in a beach city. Intuitively, I knew that this was it! This was the creative route I was destined for. 2014 is when I began my handmade crystal jewelry journey. It all started with a question and now not only can I call it my niche, but my calling.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
To keep it simple I’m a healer. My purpose is to show others how to heal themselves and how to recognize the external stimuli that create disease within us. I use crystals to to assist in the healing of my customers. I have a variety of stones and crystals to choose from based off what type of energy your seeking. Once a piece is selected, I hand wrap it in gold or silver wire and freelance. My designs have resemblance, but they are not replicated due to the uniqueness of each crystals shape and size. Crystals hold vibration and this vibration keeps us aligned to aid against anxiety, depression, confusion, stagnant relationships, financial dependence and so on.
I have made several mistakes along the way, but they only make you check yourself and your work. It can become challenging to figure things out on your own, but it’s possible. What has helped me along the way is paying attention to fine details. Your customers pay for the effort you put into your work, therefore I aim to show love to the things you may not always see as the artist. For example, I wrap the jewelry box in gold string, but I make sure to cut the ends of the string close to the knot for a neat presentation.
Overall, we are human and we are our own critic. Stonelyfekb is a brand for those who are healers and those who want to be healed wearing everyday jewelry. You can call me your personal crystal wrapper, I wear my life on a chain.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Wow, Los Angeles has a million amazing spots, but let me take you on a mental journey of my favorite places.
Diddy Riese in Westwood, CA next to UCLA has the best ice cream sandwiches and cookies for CHEAP! Literally like a dozen cookies for maybe $5. My personal favorite is the Mint Chocolate chip ice cream between two chocolate chip cookies. Oh, there’s always a line, but it moves quick!
Let’s go to Barney’s Beanery on the Santa Monica Promenade where the menu is a newspaper. Yes! it folds out like an actual newspaper. Plus it’s the perfect place to watch sports as there are at least a dozen tv’s.
Drinks on me at Sol Cocina in Playa Vista. This screams classy night vibe and the Margarita’s are delightful. Also, we can’t forget Cabo Cantina for a fun night out with the girls.
One of my most visited stores for shopping is Crossroads and Buffalo Exchange. These are second hand stores and can be a hit or miss, but it’s a thrill to see what you can find here.
Lastly, a local favorite coffee shop of mines is Phillz coffee. The mint mojito iced coffee is a must have! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to Equinox Fitness in Santa Monica, CA! As a previous employee, this is where I was introduced to yoga and meditation for the first time. They were good to me and I’ll never forget that. Also, a huge shoutout to my family and friends who supported me with encouraging words and kept me motivated. My spouse who sat me down each month and said “What is your goal for the month? What’s your strategy for gaining new followers?”. He’s very supportive and no matter what I decide, he’s all in. . Lastly, shoutout to myself for starting from scratch and listening to my intuition. I elevated even when I didn’t know how.
