We had the good fortune of connecting with Khristin Turnage and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Khristin, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea of my business “Khrissy Land” by thinking of Disneyland, how its a huge amusement park with so many different kind of attractions. I want to own my own studio production company one day where everything you need is in house. My studio will have film, photography, music, designing and anything creative where even if you feel you don’t have enough experience I can be in position to have classes and programs where students can intern. I just want to be able to express my creativity out loud and with allowing others with opportunities too.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Honestly, it all started with being a fan of a boy band called “B5” to be truthful. I use to be on their fan forums admiring members who were graphic designers, it was like being popular in school if you knew how to whip three images into one. From there I kept designing and that transitioned into photography due to people having request but low quality photos. I must say the road has been tough for me being a freelancer and being self taught. Most corporate jobs want you to have the degree, I don’t have it so they instantly reject my applications, however I still feel that knowing the right people will get you into doors. I just want people to know that if you have dreams and work hard you can still achieve what you love even without that piece of paper. I’ve done celebrities,BET, ComplexCon, NFL and NCAA projects within the past two years. Most importantly, you have to trust God and let Him move in your life by being in relationship with Him! Thats the #1 source!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would defiently take my best friend to Atlanta! Now, I’m a Inglewood girl to the heart but I love me some ATL! As soon as we touch town at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport we have to hit the west side and get some A-Town wings, the hot lemon pepper are so delicious! After we can sight see in downtown by visiting the Ferris wheel and riding bikes at piedmont park. I’ll be sure we have the 5 attractions pass where we can go to CNN studio, Coke a Cola World, Georgia Aquarium,College Football Hall of Fame and the Civil Rights Museum. Also, the eats of Atlanta are so much to choose from, it all good southern cooking! Every night there is an event going on in the A so its so many places we could dance and have a good time. Sundays for sure we will have to go skating at Cascade followed by Bonfire at midnight! For a more relax area we can stay in beautiful Sandy Springs where the Peremeter Mall is located for shopping. And for a more home feel we can travel by Rex and see the country side where the houses have woods in the backyards and the mom and pop spots like JJ Fish are so good!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I give God all the praise for providing me with my talented gifts and giving me the strength and creativity to make it this far. Secondly, my family has been such a huge support system for me, they are always rooting for me and encourage me to keep going after my dreams. Third, my closet friends who always use me as their photographer and graphic designer thats where I get all my practice from. And lastly, to every person who gave me a chance to be behind the lens or create them something that meant a lot to them.
