We had the good fortune of connecting with Kings and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kings, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose to pursue a career in music because I genuinely believe it’s what I was put on this earth to do. I was 6 years old when I had my heart set on a life in the music industry and I’ve never looked back. Coming from a musical family, I was always around the arts and I started singing, dancing, and performing around age 3. I fell in love with songwriting at a very young age and knew that I would always be telling my stories through music. Even though I kept an open mind growing up, I never saw myself being in any other field of work. It has been a crazy ride so far, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art has always been my number one focus in this life. Starting a career as a kid is never easy, but I knew one day every ounce of hard work would pay off. I am still working towards my bigger goals everyday and am so excited to see what the next few years will bring. I have had many people along the way discourage the career I was pursuing. Fake friends, music producers, random people on the internet – you name it, they said it. But what I’ve learned along the way is that you can either internalize the negativity, or you can use it as fuel. If you create the art you are passionate about, that will resonate with others the most. What sets me apart is the fact that I am constantly writing about literally everything in my life as if it’s not my job. Honestly, I couldn’t stop songwriting even if I tried. Oh and I also have yellow hair. But overall, the only thing I really want to do with this path I’ve been given is connect with others on a deep level, I believe only music can open the door to.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Over the years, I have created a long list of my favorite hideouts in Nashville. If my best friend was visiting, I would first start out by taking them The Gulch, a super cute part of downtown, to get coffee at Barista Parlour and breakfast at Biscuit Love. Lots of pictures would be taken of course. Right after this, we would go on a drive down my favorite roads and blast music. We would probably end up driving to the Natchez Trace Bridge, one of my favorite spots to watch the sunset, and eat dinner afterwards in a cute town just south of Nashville, called Franklin. The next day we would go to the White Limousine, a restaurant at the top of the Graduate Hotel in downtown and take a walk over the pedestrian bridge that takes you across the Cumberland River. We would also meeting up with some of my other friends and we would probably all go to The Narrows, which is an incredible hiking spot west of Nashville. There are so many amazing things you can do in Nashville, but these are definitely some of my favorites.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, my shoutout has to go to my incredibly supportive parents. They have been there for be since day one and still continue to encourage me and my music. Being a musician as well, my dad has inspired me for my entire life and we have always shared a similar love for music. He showed me all the best bands of his time when I was younger and those bands still continue to influence my writing today. Whenever I had an upcoming writing session with big songwriters, he would tell me to know that I belong there and never hold back with my art. I carry those words with me everyday. My mom has been and forever will be on my side through every step of this journey as well. I am confident I get my passion for dance and fashion from her. She has been the one who has helped me the most with social media content and we have the best time filming together. All of my fans know and love her almost as much as I do! I can’t thank my parents enough for their endless support.
