We had the good fortune of connecting with Kira Alvarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kira, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think the most important factor behind our success is the quality of our brand. Your brand has to have something that’s not like everyone else and you have to understand what makes you different among your competitors. If you invest in the quality of your product (In my case my singers), you’re already way ahead and it gives you room to only go up from there. Quality across the board- in your marketing, in your customer service and in your performance- all adds up and will in turn produce more clients down the road.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Holiday Carolers From Kira Alvarez Productions are most excited about receiving the “Best of 2019” Award from TheBash.com ! We were the most popular caroling group in the U.S.A!
What sets us apart from other Caroling Companies? Our professional singers are memorized so they are fully engaged with entertaining an audience. We also have a diverse song selection & offer multiple caroling groups to best compliment your event. We take a lot of pride that our company is woman owned and that we source local talent for all of our gigs. Our caroling groups are not like other carolers. We don’t just stand there and sing at you with Victorian clothing. Our groups sing and stroll, tell interesting Holiday trivia, tell funny jokes and we’ve even been known to give out candy canes to our guests! Each gig is different and it keeps us on our toes which we love!
Being a singer for most of my life, I felt confident in choosing the kind of talent that was required for this kind of skill set. I also had a large circle of singer friends to bounce ideas off of which was super helpful too. BUT one of the things I found most challenging was that I had never taken a business class and had never run my own business. So I’ve become really good at learning as I go, allowing myself to make mistakes and soak up as much info as I can from other businesses that I admire. During the rest of the year I”m a professional singer working on stage, in the studio or on tour which allows me to learn new things that can be applied to my caroling company too.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The Holiday Season in Los Angeles has many fun things to take advantage of! We would start the day off at The Montage in Beverly Hills where you can make Holiday cookies, write letters to Santa and watch the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in the main lobby. Then we would head south to catch the annual Christmas Boat Parade in Newport Beach where you can watch dozens of boats sail through the harbor with beautiful light displays. Don’t forget your warm cup of hot cocoa! We would end the night with a private Holiday party where you have the opportunity to listen to our carolers and hear their gorgeous 4 part harmonies. A wonderful night hanging with friends, lots of laughs and nothing but fun to finish the evening.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to all my Holiday Carolers that have sung for us over the years! In addition to their outstanding voices, I often ask them to give me feedback on how to improve our gigs. Who better than to ask those who are “in the field” and can give me valuable insight on different gigs? They also give me great ideas for future gigs and help me to keep pushing forward to keep our company new and relevant. There’s power in numbers, and I”m so grateful that I have a community of singers that I can rely on.
