Meet Knarik Arzumanyan | Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Knarik Arzumanyan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Knarik, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
To me being an artist means fulfilling my inner desires and expressing my emotions creatively and seeing the joy it brings to others. I find my job therapeutic in many aspects and helps me be a better version of myself because of my pursuit to always do better.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an Armenian-American freelance makeup artist. I have been in the field since 2015. When I first began my makeup career, just like most people, I started my journey with no connections or experience. However, I was determined to make a name for myself and so I did two continuous years of free makeup for events ranging from photo shoots, commercials, runways, and even movies. After working quite hard, I noticed that I was slowly seeing the reward of working for months, with no expectations except self-satisfaction and experience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My mini itinerary for a friend who happens to visit me would consist of my favorite places to get a good cup of coffee, brunch, dinner, and a place with great scenery. My favorite places to get a cup of good coffee is Tilt Coffee Bar and Laveta; although they are quite a drive, they are most definitely worth it. Cafe Fig is among one of my favs when it comes to homey feeling cafes to have brunch at. The Little Door is such an amazing little place to dine at with friends, the scenery and overall vibe of the place is worth everything. And in terms of sceneries, the Venice Beach canals and the Mosaic Tile House are both gorgeous places that are lovely to take a stroll with friends. I believe looking for a place to visit that matches your individual vibe, means that you will most likely meet other like-minded individuals. Leaving your comfort zone is also great because sticking to only one place eliminates all the many great experiences that can be enjoyed, so every once in a while I like to try out new places that I normally wouldn’t think to.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There aren’t any organizations that I believe to have played such a large role in my accomplishments but rather my self-perseverance and the support of my family. Without my willpower to learn new skills I don’t think I would be where I am today. My family’s support, however, kept me pushing through everything and it gave me the confidence and will to try new things and persuade my passions.
