Meet Korey Edmonson | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Korey Edmonson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Korey, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
One of the most important decisions I’ve made that contributed to my success was connecting with people locally. It’s easy to get caught up social media so much that we forget that there is community around us. I strive to connect with local communities and people.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One way I got to where I am today professionally was putting myself in environments that breathed art. I strive to find ways to surround myself with art related things, wether that be teaching a mural club at an art center or getting a studio in building that holds 40 other artist studios. When I find myself in these spaces my mind opens up to more possibilities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend that was visiting I would take them down to the point where the three rivers meet. This is where they can experience the heart of Pittsburgh. Then if they loved sea food my wife and I would take them down to Storming Crab down in the Waterfront. Then we would also take them to the overlook at night where you can see the entire downtown city from up high. Within the next few days we would go to top golf, eat authentic Japanese food at Fujiya in Shadyside, also some Indian food at Cafe Delhi, go axe throwing, shoots some paint ball, check out the escape room and watch UFC paper view fights at Dave n Busters in the Waterfront.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my wife. When I first started sharing my art and doing shows my wife has been there since my first event. When I have an idea about what I’m going to paint or an event coming up I’ll bring it to my wife and she’ll add to it or give me a new idea I haven’t thought about. She has been there by my side since day one.
