We had the good fortune of connecting with Krishna Kumar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Krishna, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?

Hello! Listening. Listening, listening, listening. It’s a constant practice and daily choice. I can’t overstate the profound, positive, lasting effect this has had on my life and relationships.

A joyful life is one focused on others. When you invest yourself in people, they feel valued. This builds a foundation for lasting, flourishing relationships.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

A growth mindset and grit are the two most important factors that have propelled me forward.

Some of my proudest moments are those personal breakthroughs in the quiet. “Wow. I just levelled up. I can feel it.” The private wins fuel my public performances.

Of course, there are also public wins – voicing an underrepresented community in a multi-billion dollar global franchise.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I curate a personalised experience for each friend that is 80% local flavour and 20% tourist attractions. I want them to experience the city as a home, not just a destination.

For me, it’s less about the local spots and more about the local people. Everywhere we go, I ask different friends to join us. While anyone can find tourist spots online, connecting with the city’s vibrant community is what makes a trip memorable. Plus, my friends are blessings, so the more people who get to enrich their lives with them, the better.

The people I meet always define my favourite trips.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

These books have shaped my path, and I encourage you to explore them:

The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse by Charlie Mackesy
Only 10s 2.0 by Mark J. Silverman

For actors, specifically:

The Actor and the Target by Declan Donnellan
The Actor’s Mindset: Acting as a Craft, Discipline and Business by Craig Archibald

Of course, I am grateful for my family who supports me, the friends who make time and inspire me, the mentors who trust me, the team who leaps for me, and those people who share in celebrating the little wins.
