Meet Kristin Blumetti | co-owner/operator at Fit Foodie Chicks, LLC

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin Blumetti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristin, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am originally from northern California, but moved to Arizona just before my parents divorced at 11 years old. I also spent a lot of time in the Chicago area with extended family so I feel a little bit like that is a home away from home. Growing up, we didn’t have a lot of money, but my dad was always working on side hustles to “make it big” someday and even though those side gigs never seemed to pan out for him, I learned that you should still never stop trying new things! After my parents split, my mother’s work ethic was second to none. She worked hard, and even picked up extra summer jobs so she would never have to let me go without. She also taught me the valuable lesson that if I wanted extras, I had to work and pay for them myself. My mom’s work ethic and my Dad’s “the next one is the big one” dreamer attitude has shaped me in to the entrepreneur I am today. I have had a corporate career, but I was always drawn to side hustles along the way. Even when I resigned form my full time job to focus on raising my family, I could not help myself to start several small direct sales businesses. Some have been very successful and some have been more of a hobby, but they have all given me experience and the tools I now use to run my new business Fit Foodie Chicks! This business was the first I have built from the ground up. I am 50% owner and operator. and my good friend, Jackie Lawrence and I, have brought our 40 plus years of experience as fitness professionals, knowledge from marketing direct sales products on social media and involvement in other past business ventures together and we both believe that every failure, every lesson learned, every experience we have had has lead us up to this being “the big one”! If only my dad were here to see me now!

What should our readers know about your business?
Fit Foodie Chicks was born out of the desire to break free from the restrictive and chronic diet culture. As fitness professionals we have been around it all. The fad diets, the crazy trends, and we have tried most of them ourselves too! And while most of them work short term, we felt it was a vicious cycle of restrict/binge/guilt and we did not want to live that way anymore. I had a 10 year dream of training for a bodybuilding bikini competition, but vowed I would only do it if I could eat “normal” foods along the way. I learned that macro tracking was the easiest and most sustainable way to meet your goals without feeling restricted! I hired a coach, started lifting weights and was eating things like pizza, cookies and even pasta! I changed my body completely, got leaner and stronger than I have ever been and in my first competition ever, at 41 years old, I placed 3rd in my class, 4th overall and qualified for the world championship! My partner and friend, Jackie, was with me every step of the way and as a fitness professional who had been around competitors for many years she was SHOCKED at how I could do that and not feel miserable with my diet! We had found Food Freedom and wanted to shout it from the rooftops! Inspired by other macro friendly recipe subscription products, we decided to come up with a more inclusive program. Our flagship product is the Monthly Meal Plan subscription that includes 20 delicious family approved and macro friendly recipes every month. Our goal is for our members to be able to eat all the foods they love, make ONE meal for their families and finally have sustainable weight loss results! The second piece to the puzzle is our Macro Coaching. Here we work one on one with members to calculate custom calorie and protein goals for them to be able to reach their goals in a healthy and sustainable way, while still enjoying life! Nothing extreme and nothing is off limits. That is Food Freedom!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Gilbert, Arizona so the answer to this question will differ depending on the time of year! If it is middle of summer, we would spend most of the day at one of the local resort pools trying to stay cool! The Hotel Valley Ho is a classic. Maybe we would check out dinner and a show at a local theatre. I love the Hale theatre in Downtown Gilbert for some theatre in the round! And the broadway series at Gammage is always top notch. When the weather is a bit cooler, One of my favorite spots to chill is Creek Side Taco Shack. A chill outdoor taco bar with great drinks and the best shrimp tacos! I always feel like I am on vacation when we go there. Hiking the Superstition or San Tan Mountain is a fun early morning adventure and if you hang out with me, chances are we will hit at least 1 of the world class group fitness classes at the closest EOS Fitness.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could shout out so many people that have shaped me and helped me get to the point I am at today, but I have to give it to Jackie Lawrence. She was the best boss and mentor as I began my group fitness instructing career over 14 years ago. Since then we have worked together in many business ventures and have become close friends. She is the yin to my yang and we push each other and hold each other accountable, not only in business, but in life.
