We had the good fortune of connecting with Kristin Dee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kristin, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
I started Nourish the People to support the belief “a nourished world, starts with a nourished you”. I not only believe, but I’ve experienced this first hand – positive change in communities begins with the individual. If one person learns how to live honestly, in integrity, and to nourish themselves, it gives those around them permission to do the same. We need more people living from their expression of truth and joy. This energy is infectious, and wonderful. And it can absolutely begin to shift the collective into a place of greater well-being. But it starts with you!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have had around 30 different jobs in a total of 3 different cities. Some long term, some 2 days. Some hospitality, some marketing. Some unpaid internships, some making 6 figures. The through line has always been my unwavering mission to continue learning, evolving, and improving the situations for those that I work for. That is what this wild career journey has given me – a ton of growth and clarity that I wouldn’t have been able to find any other way. To some (ok – most) it probably reads as sporadic / inconsistent. But to me, it makes perfect sense. And has brought me to what I really want to do – which is help people enjoy the lives they are in regardless of circumstance. 30(ish) jobs, you can bet I’ve come across some pretty wild situations. All of which have only rooted me more into the yoga and transpersonal work I do now.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love hanging out with people in their day to day routines. Does that sound lame? It might. I’m currently taking 2 months to travel and visit people and places I’ve missed. And in every place, my top priority is to have breakfast together. Go on lots of walks. Spend time reading or talking about nothing or day dreaming. I’ve learned that I don’t have to ‘plan’ exciting events in order to enjoy what I’m doing. Siting outside at 8:30, drinking coffee with a friend is max joy in my book. That said – if someone were to come visit me in LA (my new home) I would take them to my favorite spot at Point Dume in Malibu, spend the day at the ocean, venture to Silver Lake for Mediterranean food at Kismet. Then find a great spot to watch the sky turn pink and listen to Miley Cyrus Plastic Hearts on the drive home. Perfect day. Can’t beat it. Max joy.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a shout out to Giant Spoon, the agency that gave me the inspiration, drive and idea to start Nourish The People. The creativity and passion that comes out of this place is contagious. It gave me some of my closest friends, and most dedicated students. It also showed me how important transpersonal work is, and what a massive impact it can have. So thank you Spoons 😉
