Hi Kristoffer, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Working as a producer, you are always faced with new challenges, as clients, projects and creative teams are different and all productions are different. This means, that as a producer, you constantly have to adjust and fine-tune the process. Early on I learned that you always have to improve to keep getting better at your skill. A favorite quote of mine, that I have used for almost 15 years is: “You are never better than your last production”. It simply means that you have to prove yourself and improve your production skills every time you are working on a shoot. You can never rest on your laurels! For me…this keeps me engaged and it keeps me on my toes! I always want to do better.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have always been destined for a work life as self employed. Growing up, my father had his own business and I was always happy to learn, that hard work pays off. My second full-time job after graduation (I have a Master’s Degree in Information Science) was as a self employed business owner. Having just worked in the creative industry for a few years, my knowledge and hard work made me venture out on my own with a partner. In our first year in business, our revenue was above 2 million dollars. Our industry has changed a lot since and I have learned that revenue is not just a table chart with numbers going up! It changes year over year and I believe that the most important lesson I have learned is to never look back and cry over the hard years, but to cherish the work, the effort and the ability to make your own decisions. Working for someone else is never going to be an option for me. Another big part of my work as a producer is to always be honest, trustworthy and always keep an eye on the details. You can produce a 2 week shoot for a Fortune 500 company and the shoot is perfectly planned but the coffee on day 2 was cold. That is what the client will remember. Always stay on top of the small details and you will do well! It has worked for me for the past 18 years!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I moved to Los Angeles in 2007 and the city has changed a lot throughout the years. The first thing I do when I have friends visiting, is to take them hiking. A favorite trail of mine is Eaton Canyon Falls in Altadena. Until recently, my favorite spot for lunch was Bäco Mercat in Downtown LA…but Covid-19 closed them down. Next favorite lunch spot is Sugar Fish. You can never go wrong on their ‘Trust Me’ menu. Next I will head to Malibu and eat at Malibu Farm or go to Manhattan Beach and eat at ‘Fishing With Dynamite’. Both menus are really good and you have to try it all. Another gem that I used to visit a lot, but not so much recently, was “Inn at The Seventh Ray” in Topanga Canyon. Such a gem. I also like to ‘show off’ LA’s amazing art scene and you can’t go wrong with ‘The Broad Museum” downtown, a museum focused on contemporary art from 1950’s until today. And while you are there, I often visit Hauser & Wirth in the arts district. Their restaurant “Mauela” is great too.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my success to all the amazing creative teams and photographers that have trusted me with their shoots and productions throughout the years. It is with gratitude that I work with clients that I have had for over 15 years.
