We had the good fortune of connecting with Kuki Vincent Osei and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kuki, how does your business help the community?
Certainly! At our company, we believe in making a positive impact beyond just our bottom line. One of the ways we do this is by dedicating a portion of our profits to support
children battling cancer.

Cancer can be a devastating diagnosis for anyone, but it’s especially heartbreaking when it affects children who are just beginning their lives. By donating 20% of our yearly proceeds to support these young warriors, we aim to alleviate some of the financial
burdens that families face during this difficult time.

Beyond the financial support, our commitment to giving back also fosters a sense of community and compassion within our organization. It aligns our team around a shared purpose beyond just business success, instilling a sense of pride and fulfillment in our
work.

Moreover, our social impact initiatives extend beyond just monetary donations. We actively engage with organizations and individuals in the pediatric cancer community, volunteering our time and resources to raise awareness and offer support wherever we can.

Ultimately, the social impact of our business goes far beyond the numbers on our balance sheet. It’s about making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most, and we’re proud to play a part in supporting children and families affected by
cancer.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Kreed Hair Kare is a 100% Black woman-owned business. I source my ingredients, bottles, and labels from Black women, and I handle the bottling and labeling at home. It’s truly a Black woman-owned and family-operated business. I’m proud of our brand. While I aspire to see it in major retailers one day, I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished so far.

We give back to children with cancer, donate within our community, and help make parents’ lives easier while giving kids confidence in their crowns. I started online and remain mostly online-based. I’ve participated in a few major events like The Momference, and I’m looking forward to trying Essence Fest one year.

My biggest challenge right now is growth. I haven’t hired anyone to help expand, so I scale down to maintain demand. This is mainly because I also work full-time and haven’t fully dived into KHK full-time. However, I’ve learned time and again to always bet on yourself because scared money doesn’t make money.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My son Kreed, who is 5 years old, is the inspiration behind our business. I was pregnant with him when I was diagnosed with leukemia. Instead of feeling fear for my diagnosis, Kreed ignited in me a profound reason to live and give back, helping others to live as well. Motherhood is truly a blessing, and I pray that everyone who wishes to experience it can. Kreed changed me and is the reason behind our brand. It all started with his beautiful natural hair. As he’s gotten older, he identifies with other men like Lamar Jackson from the Baltimore Ravens and proudly says, “He has hair like me.” He’s proud of his crown!
