We had the good fortune of connecting with Kyle “Lew” Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kyle “Lew”, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
I actually have a few favorite quotes. They all play a significant roll in the way I move. “Tomorrow isn’t promised, but it usually comes.” – Nat Lewis “The future belongs to those who prepare for it today.” – Malcolm X “It’s cliché to say, work hard, don’t quit. I would really say find yourself and find…what’s the motivating force behind you? And build around that.” – Nip Hussle “If you gone be your own boss, then you gotta trust your own vision.” – Spitta
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Bac N The Day Vintage. What started as me selling random vintage t-shirts out the trunk has become a curated shopping experience with a focus on all things “By Us, For Us.” Approaching my 2nd year in business, I can definitely say things weren’t easy and still aren’t. I’ve just found a way to make fun out of what I do to ease over the bumps in the road. When it’s all said and done I want the world to know that I held my people down and I played this game of life the way I wanted to. For now, I’m excited to see my plans come to fruition in the near future. I’ve got something in the works that I know the real ones will appreciate.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We definitely eating at Sunday Gravy on Centinela & La Brea. Friday nights is for Earles though. Sit outside and just watch the OGs slide in their low-lows
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The people behind the scenes who’ve been supporting me since day 1. My family, The Lace, HTY, my big bro, cuz, and P. Shoutout the lil homie too! Bac N The Day Vintage would be a distant memory if it wasn’t for these people reminding me who I am and what I’m capable of.
