Meet Habiba Faisal: Student and a blogger

We had the good fortune of connecting with Habiba Faisal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Habiba, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
One of the most conventional and spontaneous advice all of us have come across is “Follow your passion”. While I don’t completely disagree with the phrase, I believe it should be interpreted and understood properly. The moment we hear this, we think about all those successful college dropouts who are now famously known as billionaires, we dream of reaching that mark and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. But it takes more than a few risks to get there. In my opinion, one should be rational while making such choices and keep in perspective all the possible consequences. Following passion is justified, one should pursue what he wishes too but simultaneously be prepared for the worst as life is not a bed of roses. In the present times it’s necessary to have multiple avenues to the destination so you don’t completely fall off the wagon after one failure.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m not anywhere close to where I want to be but there is one thing, I am certain of, which is – have faith. Things don’t always work smoothly and closure is not guaranteed. Most of the time we will be perplexed about our situation, we are not going to understand our failures, our downfall will not make any sense but we will not have a choice but to move on. When we hit low, when failure hits us, we sometimes get even more motivated but truth be told, that motivation does not last for long. It is a phase of denial, depression hits us even harder once we get out of it. And, it only gets better with time. Destiny unravels itself, we don’t understand our purpose but as events unfold, the dots connect and the puzzle is solved. We just don’t have to give up yet, as a matter of fact, we should never give up. I believe that if our intentions are sincere and we have worked hard, genuinely, then we will be rewarded at the right time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend and I are in the same city but there is one place we both have always wanted to visit, which is Hunza. Being there with my best friend would be a cherry on top. We will spend our time by eating the best of local foods, trying all the fruits and visiting places like Khunjerab Pass, Attabad lake, Baltit Fort and Hopar Valley. Stargazing in Hunza is the highlight of any trip and it will be like a dream come true if I get the chance with my best friend. Apart from it, I would love to meet and interact with people there as Hunza is known for its hospitality.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I believe Allah has always helped me, nothing would have been possible without His help and my parents too for always holding me and accepting me, even in the worst of times.
