We had the good fortune of connecting with Lara Arguijo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lara, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Quite simply, I want to make the world a better place and my abilities as a healer help me do that for others in transformative ways. I remind myself of a quote daily as I meet with my clients or volunteer in my community. The full version of this quote is often summarized as ‘be the change you wish to see in the world,’ but the portion of the quote that inspires me is, “We but mirror the world…If we could change ourselves, the tendencies in the world would also change.”- Mahatma Gandhi. I strive for this in my life and my business. I remember the first time I heard that, it hit me with such force. Yes! In big or small moments, change starts with me, love starts with me.

My mission as a healer is to help my clients release barriers and blocks so they can love themselves whole again. I guide my client through profound healing where they unlearn patterns and shift their perspective to align with their authentic self. I lead them through forgiving the wrongs of others and themselves, releasing resentment and pain and this allows them to accept themselves and bring harmony to their world. They leave our sessions and are more impactful in helping their community. My clients are awakening the wisdom their soul’s carry to create abundant, magical existences and in turn inspiring others to do the same. I help my community and the world by healing with my clients so we can see the truth in each person we connect with and come closer to creating a world of LOVE.

When I’m feeling helpless about the state of our planet or social injustices this quote reminds me that if I live from my heart, I can help change the world. Of course we still need to raise money, stand up for others and change laws, but at times that feels out of my control. What gives me a sense of purpose and what I’ve seen actually change people is If we can heal our inner world than our outer world will reflect this peace and celebration. I’ve seen miracles in my work. I’ve seen families reunite, ailments heal and dreams become realities.

I believe when one of us heals, we all heal. I wrote a song lyric years ago that sums up this feeling I aim to live by, “In this human race, we only win, when the last one crosses.” We will only succeed in this life when we are of service to each other and for me that service is navigating healing with my clients.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
A unique aspect of my work is the opportunity to connect with so many different people from children to adults, but also I offer my healing services to all lifeforms from cows, cats, dogs, birds and more. Depending on the client, I use guided meditation, crystals, musical instruments and energy to conduct my sessions. It’s fun and creative for me to have so many tools I can use. I am blessed to connect with all lifeforms in this cosmic way. I see people in person in Long Beach or all over the world remotely. In a session, I work with my clients to create a plan of action and then we ask Source energy what specifics do we need to heal. We dive deep into past transgressions, ancestral trauma, negative patterns or karmic ties and we release and shift this to positive vibrations. I work with Source to obtain messages and guidance for what my clients needs to resolve.

In my business and my life, the biggest lesson I’ve learned is the power of unlearning. We are born into a family with beliefs, grow up in a society and maybe a religion and all of these have influence on who we are whether it be positive or negative. I’ve used my healing abilities to go back and find where I learned the negative or limiting patterns and shift it to a positive. As I unravel these old ways of living I’m able to create the life I want. This helps me to align my energy with what I want my business to emanate. My work is guiding others to unlearn what’s holding them back as well and learn new ways of living in joy. This can feel challenging at times, to go back and bring healing to hardships, but as soon as we are through it and experiencing the shift in thoughts and feelings, my clients are so grateful. They start to see changes in their life immediately and this motivates them to continue healing.

How did I get where I am? I listened. When Source spoke and told me to do something I did it. Whether that was heal myself of something, volunteer, start teaching, write a book or rest, I did it. This allowed me to align with my purpose, get out of my own way and let abundance flow into my life. Now don’t get me wrong, I still had moments of resistance and stubbornness. I’d give myself grace and when I was ready I would dive in.

What sets me apart from other businesses is I’m invested in my clients success. They call me a few months later to say they got the dream house or job, or met their soulmate that we manifested or how they are talking to their family again and everyone is healing. I am so proud and excited for them I literally start dancing in celebration.

I leave you with this, my business is Illuminate Life because I want to shine a light for you to remember your path to your greatest life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First while we got ready we would have a dance party with those jams you listened to in high school. We kick off the week at a silent disco on the beach at sunset and then find a late night vegan joint. We’d stay awake catching up, so the next day we’d need to relax at the beach. We spend 2 days out to the desert for a retreat and spa time at Two Bunch Palms. Definitely sprinkle in some live music, hiking and outdoor yoga overlooking the ocean in Long Beach and end the trip going to hug a cow at Sundays at The Gentle Barn. We’d make sure to hit up all the best vegan restaurants and bakeries in between the fun.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to my parents for raising me to be of service and see life as the adventure it is! They always listened and supported any dream I had. My dad taught me when I was 3-4 yrs old that energy is real and I can create and control it. He always encouraged me to find the joy in my life. My mom is the most loving and compassionate person I know, always inspiring me to take care of the Earth and others. In the 80s she would see someone throw trash out of their car and she would walk to their car and tell them to pick it up. Both of my parents are always helping other people. Mix this together and you get me, a kid who wants to help people and knows I can use my magic/energy to change lives.
