We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Cerrano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The practice of Feng Shui has evolved over the centuries to match the needs and evolution of humanity. There are several methods of Feng Shui commonly spoken about which include Form School, Compass Method, BTB Feng Shui, Flying Stars (astrology of the building) and Four Pillars (astrology of the person). The unique blending of these Feng Shui practices, paired with cultural interpretations has unraveled a diversity of perspectives and styles to its approach. However, if a person chooses to use classical, modern-day or ‘new age,’ benefits are recognized and felt. Let that be from the simplicity of making a home more cozy and welcoming, to increasing focus and communication among family members and co-workers, to assisting in improving the overall well-being and health of the occupants mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually. Adopting the practice of Feng Shui into a person’s lifestyle has also helped give them inner solace during times of uncertainty. I believe people are unaware of Feng Shui being utilized as a tool for healing and to initiate and maintain living a healthy lifestyle.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It’s an honor to continue what my mother, Carole Provenzale started in 1997 with establishing the Feng Shui practice. I’m happy to share that legacy is being passed onto students who are training to become professionally certified Feng Shui Consultants through our Feng Shui Manhattan School. There are also a few projects underway, estimated to be completed between 2021 – 2022, which includes appearances on highly respected media outlets and publishing my first book. In regard to facing challenges along the way, of course there has been plenty of lessons. Yet, with each one, has come new insights, adjustments and personal / professional growth to help refine my approach to the type of Feng Shui services provided to clients in support of their healing journeys. I’d say the biggest challenge to date was taking over the business full-time after Carole’s passing. Stepping into that leadership position of president, CEO, teacher, consultant and everything else that comes with running a business, was not easy. It was a crash-course and to help navigate my new role, I signed up for an entrepreneur class to get my bearings. It was extremely helpful and eventually led me to incorporating the businesses and really expanding them beyond the New York boarders into Los Angeles, CA. Since 2014 our company has gone global, providing virtual Feng Shui consultations and classes. It’s been quite the journey and I’m excited to see where else it will lead.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There are so many places to explore! I would encourage local and expanded explorations of California if my friends had time. I’d for sure recommend the The Getty Center, Griffith Observatory, Griffith Park (Sundays especially for the free public drum circle and Shakespeare in the park), LACMA for free outdoor jazz concerts, Venice Beach ( in particular early morning strolls), Hiking in the Santa Monica Hills and lagon, Joshua Tree National Park, Yosemite National Park, Mount Shasta (which is the root chakra of the world), Lake Tahoe. There is so much more to do and see! Yet, this would be a start.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Over the years I’ve had a lot of helpful people cross my path. Of course, the first person that comes to mind is my mother, Carole Provenzale. She was my Feng Shui Master teacher, mentor and best friend. The core Feng Shui foundations were established with Carole, along with opening our businesses, “Feng Shui Long Island” and “Feng Shui Manhattan”. After Carole’s passing in 2010, a new mentor came into my life, her name is Lily Rubinstein from the Center of Inner Wisdom in Hicksville, NY. Lily helped me navigate the loss of my mother and in turn also introduced me to a world of healing that I never knew before, which included emotional intelligence, Kabbalah work, meditation, sound healing, dowsing and reiki healing (which I became a certified master in 2014). Another teacher who’s been very impactful in my life and career is Pierre Dubois. He’s provided deeper mechanics into the world of metaphysical healing and leadership, which has helped me further refine my teachings, consulting and healing practice of Feng Shui. Finally, I want to acknowledge two other gentleman in my life. My father, Bob and my husband, Aldo. They have both been right by my side encouraging and supporting me every step of the way emotionally and mentally.
