We had the good fortune of connecting with Lauren Imparato and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
All the businesses I have founded have started with one thing – noticing a problem that no one was solving. From there I usually jump into market research to confirm that there is not a solution akin to the one I have in mind and to better understand the potential customer base. After that, it’s time to go!
What should our readers know about your business?
I have had a very un-linear career path. From studying Romance Languages & Literature at Princeton, to the trading floors of Morgan Stanley in NY & London, to founding and operating a first of its kind health/wellness/fitness business, I.AM.YOU., which I exited after 10 years in 2019, to now The Association. Each step has started with a back of the napkin idea that now is a reality.
With The Association, my co-Founder, Janelle Hallier, noticed that the most revered leadership organizations in the world were only 5% women and minorities, and did not quite work for women. Simultaneously, I was noticing that I lacked a group of like minded people who had no bias whatsoever to bounce my career challenges and opportunities off of. Enter, The Association.
At The Association we curate “Your Personal Board of Directors.” Using a combination of data science and a personal touch, we create a group of 6-9 women, geographically centered but with what we call “Diversity of Thought” as Your Board. You meet with Your Board every month for a 2 hour meeting that follows our by the minute structure and secret sauce.
What is so cool about The Association is that we see that career women across the globe are facing the same challenges. And together we solve and rise above.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Nature. Movement. Food & Wine. Pretty much sums up how I live. Time in the yard or the beach, a run, swim, ski or workout, then a proper conversation and laugh filled meal surrounded by great people and wine. Does not get better than that!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To anyone who loves life and looking to always learn and do their best.
