We had the good fortune of connecting with Leila Broumand and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leila, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When one searches for the word ‘Risk’ on google the definition you receive is “a situation involving exposure to danger.” For me, risk has been something I’ve been exposed to at a very early age. I was raised in a family of risk takers, all successful entrepreneur starting with my father who would tell me never be afraid of trying something you really believe in, and failure is not an option. He was very instrumental in my outlook for life, wanting to always try new things, and meet new people. I was sent to a boarding school in Switzerland when I was 8 years old. That was my parents taking a risk to give me a great opportunity as a child. 16 years later who would have thought risk was something I would incorporate in my daily life. I moved from Florida to Colorado at 18 by myself to be able to explore my options and build something on my own. or me, then from Colorado to California by myself to further explore more opportunities and from California to travel Europe by myself for months. Risk has taken a big role in my life. Risk is all there is. I mean it’s where all great possibilities lie. one of the words that I think of after I think of the word risk is: trust. Trust your life, trust yourself, trust nature, and the universe.

Obviously it’s important to plan and get focused in the direction of your dreams and then leap at a certain point in the direction of your dreams. I consider myself as lucky to be living fully and boldly and not fearing risk because it has shown me such beautiful parts of this life, this world and myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Named after my dog Rider, I started this business in the midst of covid when I lost my job and knew I had so much I wanted to share with people. Initially to style, sell vintage, share music and be as authentically real to empower people to feel good in their own skin. You don’t need much to start your own business other than drive and passion for what you believe in. The way you carry yourself in each moment, how you treat people when things get tough, the power you possess in yourself to keep going when you feel like you can’t. Becoming your own best friend and knowing that if you keep true people will follow. I’m learning everyday to be that version of myself. Life is ebb & flow. you’re here to experience it, grow & adapt with each obstacle it throws at you. Rider Goods is a brand that truly revolves around the sun and shows people to keep on riding even when the going gets tough. Dance it out, buy second hand & show up authentically. Look good, feel good baby.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d start by waking up and taking my friend on a nice long hike in nature either Topanga or Malibu and then obviously hit the beach, depending on the day I’d go find a nice flea/farmers market for amazing vintage and fresh veggies. As for dinner I’d go to one of my favorite spots owned by the most amazing couple called Dudley Market in Venice. If you’re looking for natural wines, fresh caught fish and a hell of a good vibe that’s the spot. Which is where you would probably find me on any given day. As for some live music, I’d be going to shows at the Troubadour which is one of my favorite venues in the city and then every Sunday an amazing bluegrass band called the ‘Get Down Boys’ play at my favorite bar called ‘Big Foot West’ There are so many things to see and do In the city but for the most part these are the things I’d be doing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate my Shout out to my mum. She has been collecting vintage ever since I was little and dressed me up constantly, I have photos from when I was a baby wearing a chic leather jacket and cute boots at the age of 3. I wouldn’t be where I am without her.
