We had the good fortune of connecting with Lena Wagner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lena, what makes you happy? Why?

Photography makes me happy because I get to share and evolve my passion and spread positivity through my pictures. More than the click of a button, it’s the process of researching the weather, locations, and the thrill of exploring new places or seeing known places in a different light. It’s a passion that I pursue constantly and am always learning from. Receiving feedback when your work contributes to the community and has helped an individual or a business in dark times means a lot.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In my day job, I’m a key account manager at a small company for parts and materials. Commuting to the office over the years has allowed me to find secret spots in LA and I was able to venture out on California road trips on weekends and portray them in a positive and colorful light. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Griffith Observatory is a favorite as well as Santa Monica, Will Rogers and Malibu beach – they offer wonderful sunset spots. Grand Central Market is a great location to start exploring Downtown LA and its many excellent restaurants and bars.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends and photo family have been an incredible support system. I’ve learned a lot from fellow photographers, and their unwavering motivation and advice have been a game changer. I’m grateful to have met very talented LA photographers through community meet-ups such as the ones organized by @losangelesgrammers and @donut.street.meet , and found that everyone really does this out of love for this city and photography and I’m proud to be part of this community.
