We had the good fortune of connecting with Lesline Pittman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lesline, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my business was that I wanted to help other moms like me. That was the reason I became a Registered Nurse, I wanted to help people. And then after having my own children and having symptoms of postpartum depression (I didn’t check all of the boxes to be diagnosed with postpartum depression) that I came back to my yoga practice and was then granted a yoga teacher scholarship. After I became certified as a yoga teacher I realized that I wanted all moms to learn yoga so they can be better for themselves first and foremost and then of course better for their kids. So I wouldn’t say there was a thought process but ultimately that I when I started my business I wanted to serve moms.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
By day I am a Registered Nurse. Every time I say “by day” I think of myself as a superhero. HAHA! I have been a Registered Nurse since 2014 and went right into the hospital. I became a Registered Nurse because that is what my parents wanted from me. Growing up in a Jamaican household there are 2 things your parents want you to become: a nurse or a doctor. So I picked nurse because I didn’t want to go to school forever. I started my nursing career in the hospital and hated it. I don’t like to say hate but I really did not enjoy the hospital setting. I would come home every night crying saying to myself is this what success is supposed to feel like?

For years I bounced from every hospital in the Central Florida area until I finally found my footing in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit utilization management for an insurance company. As I reflect I am glad that I gained all of that experience across various healthcare settings. A lesson that I learned my nursing experience is that if a job does not feel right- LEAVE! That is a sign that there is something better for you.

My nursing career has not been easy but it really has developed me into the persistent, knowledge, and malleable person that I am today. I am forever grateful that I started my professional journey as a Registered Nurse.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that I am persistent, a go getter, and I am determined. There have been a lot of bumps to get where I am today, but those bumps were necessary. When you look at my brand and hear my story know that there has been a lot of work to get where I am today. None of this is luck, everything I have done is intentional.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One mentor that I have to shoutout is Hina Khan. She is my peak performance coach who really pushed me to be my fullest and BEST self. I even became a Certified Life Coach through her coaching program called Khan Method Coaching. Her coaching program gave me even more confidence to serve my clients and help them create transformation.

I also have to shoutout my 2 kids. I would not have sought out help from my coaches and mentors if it wasn’t for my kids.
