We had the good fortune of connecting with Lexi Honey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lexi Honey, what makes you happy? Why?
Spending time with my loved ones is what truly makes me happy. Connection has always been the most important thing for me and the thing that makes me the happiest. When I am able to spend time enjoying the company of my loved ones I feel fulfilled and like I don’t need much else in life. Creative activities are enjoyable for me as well, and are what I like to spend my free time doing alone or with others. Making music and crafts have always been things I’ve done from a young age.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a pop/r&b artist who incorporates elements from electronic music, reggaeton, alternative, and afrobeats in my own music. I love writing catchy hooks that listeners can vibe to and just enjoy. When I write, I like to let the hook or title come to me first, and then I base the rest of the song off of that. The musicians I work alongside help me accomplish a professional and crisp sound that I can be proud of and confident in, which is something I really appreciate and am thankful for. I love my songs, and love sharing them with the world so that hopefully other people can love them too! I haven’t gotten noticed with my music too much yet, but I definitely plan on releasing more and more music, and hopefully gaining some more traction as I go. I’ve learned that it takes time and perseverance to be noticed in the music industry and all you can do is keep going in order to get to where you want to be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Hmmm I would have to say we would probably visit Tyson’s, it’s a big mall that has some nice stores to check out! Then we could head to Georgetown for a nice walk down the main streets full of stores and restaurants, then grab dinner at one of the Italian spots down there!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My parents have always been nothing but supportive of my creative endeavors. Whether it was driving to NYC three times a week to participate in off-broadway shows, taking me to dance classes everyday, or even supporting my desire to go to Berklee College of Music, my parents have always been there and let me know that they thought I could do whatever I set my mind to. My mom would always take the time to help me practice singing, learn new techniques, and find talent shows for me to perform in when I was young. She has never once placed doubt in me that I wouldn’t “make it” with my music career. My brother has also always been very supportive despite being dragged to all of my shows as a child. He has always shared my songs with friends and told me he believes in me. My dad has also shown a lot of support, shared my music with coworkers and expressed how proud he is of me.
