Meet Lezhang Wang

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lezhang Wang and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lezhang, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Just enough is more.” – Milton Glaser.
These quotes capture something I hold close: the art of restraint. When I design, draw, or even make decisions in life, I’m always searching for balance—just enough to create what’s needed, but no more. It’s like this paragraph: if I added too much, you’d probably stop reading. That’s the beauty of “just enough.” It keeps things alive.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career blends creativity with strategy, evolving from a foundation in fine arts to a focus on product design. What sets me apart is my knack for balancing functionality with culturally nuanced design, drawing from both Eastern and Western influences.
The journey hasn’t been simple. Interning in two Fortune 500 tech companies, where I developed skills in designing conversion-focused visuals and Gen AI tools, taught me how to thrive under pressure and collaborate fluidly across teams. My biggest lesson? Embrace iteration and communicate with clarity.
Ultimately, my work is about connecting worlds—crafting designs and experiences that invite people to pause, wonder, and feel a deeper connection. My story is one of curiosity, cultural fusion, and creating moments that leave a lasting impact.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d start with brunch at Jack’s Wife Freda in Soho, then wander through art galleries and catch the sunset over the Hudson River at the piers.
The next day would be all about art, hitting MoMA and Whitney, ending with rooftop drinks and live music in Williamsburg at Baby’s All Right. Exploring Williamsburg’s street art, vintage shops, and grabbing pizza at Roberta’s, followed by live music and bowling at Brooklyn Bowl, would add to the vibe.
For a classic NYC experience, brunch at Balthazar, a visit to the Guggenheim, and ending with jazz at Smalls in the West Village would be perfect. To close the week, brunch at Sarabeth’s, a stroll along the High Line, and dinner at L’Artusi would make an unforgettable farewell.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
For me, it’s my band. Balancing work, study, and life can be challenging, and my band has been my lifeline. We write songs, practice together weekly, and about once a month, we perform in a bars or venue in NYC. I’ve been listening to alternative rock since middle school, and I’m grateful for finding a group of people who share the same passion. Music is my therapy; it’s something I simply can’t live without. Beyond playing guitar, I also get to channel my creativity into designing our show posters, covers, and merch. It’s where my work and passion collide, making every gig a celebration of both.
