Meet Liel Kolet | Singer/Songwriter and Performer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Liel Kolet and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Liel, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Throughout my career I had to take many risks in order to fulfill my dreams and achieve different goals. As a young girl when I was only 13 years old I decided to give up a normal childhood in order to sing and perform around the world. Even during performances I had to take risks sometimes, and one of my most memorable ones was at a huge Peace concert with many world leaders, when while on stage right before I was about to start singing I decided to ask former US President Bill Clinton to join me on stage to sing ‘Imagine’ together. I had no idea if he would go along with it, but he did. This special performance was covered by the world media and created a big buzz. It made a huge impact on my career and opened many doors for me.
That performance led me to perform all over the world, and work with great artists. It was a risk definitely worth taking!
A recent risk that I took was deciding to change my musical direction and dive into a whole new music world. After many years as a classical/adult contemporary style singer with a very steady and familiar path, I decided to follow my heart and pursue a career as an EDM vocalist.
I’ve always been a fan of EDM and wanted to be a singer/songwriter who collaborates with DJs and different producers from around the world. I decided that I need to follow my passion and put my energy into something that I truly love and enjoy even if it means giving up on something stable and going into the unknown.
I’m happy I took that risk and I’m very proud of my recent work and super excited of what’s to come.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
When I was 12 years old I won a kids talent competition in Europe called Bravo Bravissimo, This was my first performance where I was discovered, and shortly after, I started performing professionally and developed my international career. Since I started at such a young age I got to have so many experiences, perform hundreds of shows worldwide and it really shaped me as an artist and a performer.
Growing up in Israel, such a beautiful country in a very conflicted area, I made it my mission from a very young age to promote peace through my music and that mission has led me to perform all around the world and even for the Dalai Lama.
I collaborated with some amazing artists including Patti LaBelle, Herbie Hancock and Andrea Bocelli.
One of the most significant milestones in my career was working with the legendary rock band- The Scorpions.
I recorded five duets with them and performed with them on multiple occasions. I learned so much from working with these different artists and I’m so thankful for these experiences and the knowledge they gave me.
Still today, I love collaborating with other artists and songwriters, I believe it’s the best way to grow and develop.
More meaningful experiences I’ve had in my career were receiving the German radio award and the eagle of peace award for my work to promote peace and equality.
I’ve always been a hard worker, dedicated to building my career and pursuing my goals. Nothing happened overnight and everything I achieved is with hard work and dedication, and I believe that’s the only way to get there.
There will always be challenges along the way, but I never forget how lucky I am to do what I love and I do my best to learn and grow even from the hard parts.
An important lesson I’ve learned is to not be afraid of change.
As artists we constantly evolve and grow, with that come many changes and that’s totally fine.
I’m not the artist I was 10 years ago, but everything I’ve done has brought me to where I am right now and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love LA ! I think it’s so versatile and has something to offer to everyone! If my best friend was visiting I would definitely stop by Malibu Farm restaurant for a breakfast with a view and then drive down the coast to Santa Monica and spend some time on the beautiful beach, then take a little walk down 3rd Street Promenade and grab a delicious ice cream at SomiSomi.
Then drive back to Hollywood and have a sunset cocktail at the Mama Shelter rooftop followed by an amazing dinner at TAO or Beauty and Essex.
Honestly I could go on with so many suggestions but this is what I would consider a perfect day!

Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my amazing family. Family means everything to me, they’ve always been my support system. They gave me strength and been by my side through hard decisions, challenging moments and the highs and lows of every aspect of my life. Without my family a wouldn’t be able to do what I love and I’m forever grateful for their support and for letting me follow my dreams and my heart.
