We had the good fortune of connecting with Linda Wehrli and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Linda, we’d love to hear about the focus of your studio.
Some art schools and music studios are focused on creating art or performing music. My focus is on creating artists and musicians for our culture, either professionally or for pastimes they can enjoy for a lifetime.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Switching my art classes and piano lessons to Zoom is keeping me busy professionally.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is not relevant with the current COVID situation.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
That would be my parents and my husband. My life’s work as an art and piano teacher is dedicated with gratitude firstly to my parents, Frank and Phyllis Pelteson for their unconditional love. They recognized and nurtured early on my passion for the arts. Grade school years were filled with piano lessons and attending an ample array of concerts, live theater and trips to museums and art galleries. After graduating from high school, my parents graciously invested in my college education, allowing me to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, helping me turn my dream of running my own art and piano school into a reality. I’m grateful to my husband, Barry Michael Wehrli for his gracious and generous support of my teaching practice, providing moral support when the going was tough and sharing the joys of success with me. He is proud of my boot-strapping my school and the lives it has touched. I honor the longtime support of the many beautiful families whose children grew up in my studio and now return to visit, introducing me to families of their own. Their feedback and support of my teachings over the years have left an indelible mark on the contents of my curriculum. As the American author Robert A. Heinlein once said, “When one teachers, two learn.”
