We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Loggins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve been self employed since I was 25 years old. I always knew that I would be starting my own production company and creating my own content when the time was right. Then, the strike happened and the timing couldn’t have been more right. It gave me the opportunity to still create opportunities for myself and other artists.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an actor/creator. I use my voice, body and mind to bring a writer’s story to life. I am proud to say I from Detroit and I received my Degree in Theatre from Wayne State University. That training gave me a good foundation. I qualified to join my first professional union from acting in plays at The Detroit Repertory Theatre. Not only am I a member of the Screen Actor’s Guild but I am also a proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association. Since then I have been in numerous plays and films. My first time executive producing was a film called Envy Starring Ray J and Lisa Raye McCoy. The movie turned out great but I knew hardly anything about the backend. Needless to say, I lost a ton of money because I knew nothing about structuring distribution. Even though I have a degree in theatre, I am always striving for greatness as an actor/producer. I consistently take classes and over analyze my work. I overcome my challenges by crying if need be, dusting myself off and starting with a clean slate. Failure is in quitting and winner’s win. I want the world to know that I am a hard worker and that I strive to give the very best of myself in everything that I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start off by going for Italian food at Marco Polo in Silver Lake. Then we would catch the hippest concert at the Forum. We would go to Griffith Park for a hike then to Laguna Beach to lay of the sand, eat ice cream and look for Dolphins. The next day we would go site seeing in Malibu. The last day, we would go take a tour or the Modjeska House in Modjeska Canyon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wanna give a huge shout out to my husband, Ken, for taking a risk and relocating us to California to pursue my dreams. I also want to give a shout out to my mother Deborah and brother Craig for their continued support in every area of my life. Josh and Kenedi for always cheering me on. Lastly, I want to thank my awesome team! My agent Tabitha Kit of Kit International Talent and my manager Christine McLain of McLain Entertainment. We are truly the Dream Team-and dare I even mention they are beautiful! I love each of them immensely!
