We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Colon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
At Captured Celebrations, we believe the most important factor in our success is creating a connection with our clients. We focus on capturing the genuine emotions and interactions that make celebrations special, not just staged smiles. By building trust, we allow people to relax and be themselves, resulting in photos that truly capture the essence of the event. This commitment to quality and client connection was recently recognized with the Best Single Operator from Snappic Booth Mastermind Awards in 2024

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the importance of staying true to your vision and values. There will always be trends and competition, but focusing on what makes ‘Captured Celebrations’ unique and delivering exceptional service has been key to our success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles, the City of Angels, promises a whirlwind adventure for the best friend trip of a lifetime. We’d weave through vibrant neighborhoods, soak up the California sunshine, and create memories that would last a year.

Our journey would kick off in Glendale, where a delicious breakfast at Porridge & Puffs would fuel us for an afternoon exploring the sprawling Griffith Park. Hiking to the Griffith Observatory would reward us with breathtaking panoramic views, the perfect introduction to the city’s vastness. The evening would be a culinary adventure at the Glendale Americana, hopping between restaurants to savor the diverse flavors of LA’s food scene.

Day two would be dedicated to exploring the iconic Venice Beach. We’d walk along the Venice Beach Boardwalk, taking in the sights and sounds of street performers, artists, and eclectic shops. A refreshing dip in the Pacific Ocean and a healthy lunch overlooking the beach would complete our Venice experience. The afternoon would find us in Silver Lake, a trendy neighborhood known for its vintage stores, art galleries, and trendy cafes. We’d browse unique finds and grab coffee at a cozy cafe, soaking up the hipster vibes.

No trip to LA is complete without a taste of Hollywood. Day three would be dedicated to Universal Studios Hollywood, where we’d scream on thrilling rides, explore movie sets from our favorite films, and immerse ourselves in the magic of filmmaking.

For a touch of luxury and iconic scenery, day four would see us cruising down Wilshire Boulevard, window-shopping at Rodeo Drive’s designer stores and stopping for photos in front of the Beverly Hills sign. The Getty Center would be our afternoon destination, offering stunning architecture, world-class art collections, and panoramic views of the city.

Day five would be all about the beach life. We’d head down to Santa Monica Pier, enjoying carnival rides on the pier, watching street performers, and soaking up the sunshine. Renting bikes and cruising along the Marvin Braude Bike Trail, offering scenic views of the coast, would be the perfect way to spend the afternoon. A delicious seafood dinner on the Santa Monica Pier would be the perfect ending to a beach day.

For a final dose of culture, we’d explore the vibrant Koreatown on day six. Tasting authentic Korean BBQ and browsing unique shops in this diverse neighborhood would be a delightful experience. The evening would find us bar-hopping in Downtown LA, experiencing the city’s nightlife and soaking in the energy of the revitalized area.

Our last day would be a relaxed farewell. We’d grab brunch in Los Feliz, a charming neighborhood known for its brunch spots and artistic vibe. The afternoon would be spent souvenir shopping at the Melrose Trading Post, a haven for vintage treasures. As we head to the airport, we’d reminisce about our whirlwind adventure, cherishing the memories made amidst the diverse landscapes and vibrant energy of Los Angeles.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be here without the incredible support of my family and friends. They’ve been there for me through thick and thin, always cheering me on. A big shoutout goes out to them for believing in me and my dreams.
