We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz & Edgar Corral and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz & Edgar, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Los Angeles Craft Runners is a free running community that meets every Tuesday at 7pm at a different brewery or beer bar. We run a few miles, and then drink after. Founded in 2017, we are the sister chapter of the Orange Country Craft Runners. We now have more chapters in different locations including in Houston, South OC, Toronto, Riverside, and Denver.

Founders Liz & Edgar Corral used to the run with the OC Craft Runners, and approached the founder to ask if they could start a group in Los Angeles. Through the years we have had thousands of craft runners join, and supported over 50 local breweries or beer bars in the Los Angeles area.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
LACR is all about being welcoming to everyone and our post run socializing. Through our events, craft runners have been able to support many different local beer bars or breweries. It also helps people become more familiar with beer and the vibrant beer community in Los Angeles. It has been great to bring a big group of people on what would probably be a more slow night (Tuesdays) and be able to support a local spot. While we are so spoiled in Los Angeles with the running community (there are over 100+ run groups to join), we have also put an emphasis on the post run socialization aspect of our community as well as the inclusivity for runners of all levels. We feel thats what sets us apart.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Edgar and Liz have lived in Los Angeles for 8 years and there is still much to be explored, it’s one of our favorite things about this city. Off the top of our head and in no order, here are some things we would recommend.

A Dodgers Game (with drinks at Bar Flores beforehand)
A pizza tour (hitting up the best pizza spots in LA – Pizzana, Pizzaria Bianco, Quarter Sheets, Dough Box)
A Taco Tour (Villas, Sonortown, Guerrilla and Homestate (for breakfast tacos and a frozen marg)
Hiking in Griffith Park – up to the observatory area.
Hitting up some local breweries – (we love the Hermosillo, Highland Park Brewery, Benny Boy, Eagle Rock Brewery and Monkish)
Joining the LA Craft Runners on a Tuesday at 7 pm for a run and beer after

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our community of craft runners have been inspiring and motivating over these last six years. Without them, our group would not exist. We have always kept our events open to all paces and people encouraging those who are new in their running journey to join us. It has been inspiring to see the friendships and connections born out of the socializing of our group. Runners have gone on vacations together, ran in races, attended festivals and made lifelong friends. It has also been inspiring to see people’s relationship to running change over time. We have had runners who started at our events by walking, and now run marathons! We love that our community of runners uplifts and supports each other no matter where they are at in their running journey. Its a wonderful group of people committed to having fun.
