We had the good fortune of connecting with Liz Kamali Camacho and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liz Kamali, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was freedom. It was the idea that I could be with my children how and when I needed it or they needed it. It meant showing up as myself and giving a little piece of me to the world without feeling it would be curated to something that didn’t align with my core values—owning a business meant having total control of my future (good and bad).

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Liz Kamali Premier Consultants is a consulting firm; it began as an event business and quickly evolved into something more purposeful. Our business model has always been unique; our brand is most known for making our clients feel like a family; they become partners in business over time, an unforgettable experience. One of the things I am most proud of is being a Latina Owned business recognized as a company that is welcoming, family-oriented, and thought-out leaders when it comes to advocating for Latinos and Black People. Who we are is because of our passion for supporting and serving others. Whether creating a unique experience at an event for a non-profit leveraging Latinos in corporate America or hosting a wedding for a diverse family and bringing the culture and details of that couple together for everyone, we can produce ever-lasting experiences. Our company can design, market, and run every aspect of an event from top to bottom that would be required, or even help a small business establish its brand and help organize the business models from operations to the front end of sales. Serving our community is our main focus. I got to where I am today because of hard work, not giving up, aligning myself with the right people, putting myself out there with integrity, and building solid business relationships. Most of my large corporate clients came from smaller events where I treated a family member or guest as if they were my client as well, and that experience, how our team made them feel, was unforgettable, which led us into our now evolved brand and business. People believe in people. I learned that early; I realized that it’s ok not to know it all, but to be honest about it and to honestly believe in yourself and your abilities so that you can find the answers. I often tell individuals who come to me for advice not to let someone with a big title scare them because knowledge is only power when applied. You can make things happen, so long you believe in yourself, that person with that big title wouldn’t be coming to you otherwise. What do I want the world to know about me, my brand, my story? I would say I want them to know nothing is impossible; the word itself says it’s possible; I created this business from the ground up with little to no help or financial resources; what I learned is that if you want something strong enough, you’ll find a way! Our team is fantastic; we care about helping, and we take on each project as if it were our own, so long makes everyone feel and look good! Every business needs a solid group of professionals who love what they do as much as you.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start with a nice beach day at Coquina Beach with a few cocktails. We would go downtown Tampa for dinner and enjoy some authentic soul food and good music at 7th & Grove. Then maybe stop at the Lit Cigar Lounge for some dancing and hookah; the next day, I would take us to brunch at American Social over by Jackson. Later that evening, I would take her/him/they to my favorite Latin spot Colombia or even grab a bite at one of the great food trucks over in Riverview called Guavate De Oto; it’s authentic Puerto Rican cuisine

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my family first, my husband and two daughters, and my parents. Their support and unconditional love allow me to continue striving in life; because of them, I am walking in my truth with purpose and passion. I would also have to say, God, without my faith, without his grace, none of this would matter. God’s grace gives my life purpose.
