Meet London Kasmir | Multi-Media Personality & Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with London Kasmir and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi London, we’d love to hear about how you approach risks and risk-taking
To be great at anything in life whether it be personal or career you have to believe in your unique gifts, talents & wisdom and just leap!
You always hear “you miss every shot you don’t take” and it sounds cliche’ but it’s SO true. Just start, and once you start, have the courage to stick with it and something great will come out of it.
I can’t promise the outcome will be exactly what you envisioned but you will gain life skills, coping skills & so many more character building blocks that will help you become a well-rounded person and that’s the most important factor to sustained personal or career success.
Personally, pushing through my fears and doubts has been the only way I’ve gotten to where I am now and when I fall or lose my motivation I give myself grace -remembering how much I’ve grown inside and out. I allow my body to tell me when it’s time to start again and usually once I’ve reflected and rested my creativity and drive is restored in a new way.
Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
My art is expressed through my voice. I believe we’ve all been set apart from others but we have free will to operate in that or not. No, one person can create what I can create and that’s the confidence I operate in. I don’t view peers as competition because there is a special lane for all of us in any industry even if it is oversaturated.
My journey has been long and filled with hills & valleys. One thing that keeps me centered is remembering my ‘why’.
My dreams are bigger than me wanting to have a successful TV hosting career, my hope is that, through my dreaming I can give people that see parts of themselves in me hope, encouragement and confidence to believe they can do anything. I know I have a big responsibility to use my voice and my influence to help others and I believe I will do that through television. One thing about me, if I say I’m going to do something I find a way and I do it. I don’t let fears and worries limit me, I just leap, it keeps me from talking myself out of what I know I can do.
I’m most excited about hosting red carpet events for E! News one day! I’ve always wanted that for myself but I know I will accomplish more than I could ever imagine! I am speaking it into existence. I will host award shows, nationally syndicated talk shows, fashion shows and so much more. I have big dreams for myself but I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t feel unreachable some days or discouraging when it’s not happening in my timing.
Listen, I’ve been working at this dream since I was 16, I started my first website and blog at that age, I’m 27 now. I went around to fashion boutiques in my home town and asked them if I could use their stores to create fashion content for a show I created at the time on Youtube. I was fearless back then and sometimes I have to remember to keep that fearlessness as I get closer to those dreams that seem scary but are beginning to manifest for me now.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love anything with a view! So I would take them to the observatory for a nice view early in the day, get brunch at Bluestone Lane, go shopping at the Grove, eat dinner at Ysabel then head dtla for drinks.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This question is loaded but I’m so happy you asked!
Community and family is what keeps me grounded- my people like my REAL people the ones that know my dreams, believe in me, remind me who I am, love me for WHO I am not WHAT I do is what keeps me grounded.
Something I’ve learned through experience is, support is all about quality over quantity. It’s easy to think “Wow, so many people are around me I should feel so supported and appreciated.”
Which is not always the case, sometimes it’s the opposite. Too many people and opinions can often times cause confusion and self-doubt. Silence is key, you have to be able to hear your own voice to remember what really matters. You have to be able to hear your own voice to remember what really matters.
My relationship with God has always been the main pillar of who I am and everything I do. I was called by God to accomplish great things and through my relationship with him, I know that I have everything I need to achieve anything my heart desires even if it’s not the exact vision I pictured for myself but it’s his great plan for me.
Industry wise, Jeannie Mai & Elaine Welteroth have always been such beautiful women inside and out that I have been studying for years. Everything from how they present themselves, what their journey to success looks like, who they were surrounded by when they were rising to the top and how humble they remain with all of their achievements is so inspiring to me.
It is crucial to find someone or even multiple people that inspire you to dream big and it also helps a lot when there are people that have paved the way and created a blueprint to how things should be done.
