We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorenzo Pozzan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lorenzo, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Great question, that’s something I’ve been working on for years.
Learning to be fully present has helped me identify on a deeper level what makes me feel like I am in flow with my purpose. Trying to connect with that type of person, experience and feeling has been instrumental to achieving my own personal definition of success.
The first step was finding that definition.
Success for me is all about doing something I love where I use my life experiences to be of service.
As I navigated being an immigrant, traveling the world, volunteering and many existential thoughts, I had a sort of realization that my path towards giving back is through sharing my unique life experiences and stories.
Finding and implementing habits to promote a healthy mind and body while doing the work has allowed me to keep connecting and sharing.
To answer the question: being of service, mindfulness, exercise and deep meaningful relationships, a sort of modern day “mens sana in corpore sano” maintaining a healthy mind and body.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art and life are a beautiful work in progress.
After getting a script, nothing excites me more than collecting nuggets of life that I can apply to my character. I’ll dig them up from my imagination, protagonists of my past growing up across Europe— like my Corsican Grandmother or Venetian Great Uncle who was a war hero—
The privilege of living in a big cities like NYC, Rome and LA has given me access to condensed collections of unique humans. For my last film I played a character who struggles with addiction. On top of my own experience with the subject, my degree in biochemistry helped me understand the science behind its physical effects and volunteering at Essex Park shelter allowed me to witness its day to day.
One of the projects I am currently working on is inspired by some of the sojourners I met while living off the beaten path in South East Asia.
Some of the lessons I’ve learned, not without difficulty, are that you become fluent in the language of the world by daring. Being of service is a great joy and optimism is a spiritual practice. Love yourself and do your best.
My brand? Walk the walk, don’t just play people, be a human.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a foodie as well as an outdoorsy type of person and lifelong, devout student of the greatest teacher: mother nature. So, in New York, the classics: Central Park, the Piers, some museums (can’t miss MoMA). Then we’d go to the East and West Villages for lunch and dinner, but instead of picking a spot, walking around and letting inspiration work its magic.
I’d also take you all the way uptown, the parks in Inwood, like the Cloisters and then we’d grab a juice and muffin at Green Juice cafe’, banana nut for the win.
Finally, a trip to Jacob Riis Park or Long Beach, just because.

In LA we would for sure hit the beach. I shot a cool campaign in Crystal Cove state park recently, and loved it.
During our week together we would see as many National Parks as possible, Yosemite, Joshua Tree and go whale watching out on the sea.
Before I send you off, Torung Thai restaurant in Los Feliz for dinner–it’s closed for lunch, like most restaurants in Thailand.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First of all, let me just say how much I admire, respect and share this ethos. I owe everything I am and have accomplished to the continued support of my friends, guidance of my mentors and synergistic efforts of my collaborators and colleagues.
From my sensei as a teenager, Marco, to my mentors growing up, Ned, George, Ivan, to the ride or dies that have always been there, Sam, Ricky, Imani, Nicola, Giulia, Roby, Eugenio to my family, my cousins Chicca, Giulia, Francesco, to my reps Malissa, Sabina & Christin, Maury, to all the people I’m forgetting but owe so much to, I have been blessed with an incredible tribe.
When they say it takes a village… 😀
