We had the good fortune of connecting with lucio leonardi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi lucio, why did you pursue a creative career?
I started my artistic career 20 years ago, I had several groups from different musical backgrounds, PLUHM is my last way to express myself in the world, now making music for me is a matter of life, for me music is life, it is therapy, I could never do without it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started making music over 20 years ago. I have had many musical groups, from black metal, to psychedelic music, from post metal, to pop art, the approach to electronic music I only had in 2013, when my desire to express myself at 360 degrees became insistent .
My first solo project was Clones Theory, where, linked to an 80’s dark wave form, I gave birth to a single album of moderate success.
After moving to Rome I embarked on a new adventure called Photographs, where I left aside the dark wave in favor of a more marked experimentation, giving life to 4 albums where I united and still unite Dark, pop, idm, avant-garde.
Pluhm was born recently, it is the achievement of what I have always wanted to create: a music that transcends genres, perhaps clinging to the Ambient, but that includes within it all my main influences, the cinematics, the shoegaze, the ambient textural, idm, experimentation tout court.
It was not easy to arrive at this last project, it was a long and difficult process, and it still is. Now I am 36 years old, and after all these years of music I have realized that music is soul, and therefore one does it only for oneself, or at least mainly for this reason. Then if you like it it is a reason for me to be so proud, because expressing myself and sharing is what I love most.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
well, where i am now is beautiful (i live near switzerland). Everything is green, mountains, lake, plains, fresh air, there is everything, I would take it everywhere. To eat instead, I would take it to my Sicily, the food there is superb and the best in the world!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
my family, my wife and anyone who supports me in my personal journey
