We had the good fortune of connecting with Lulu Nina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lulu, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
It has taught me that while it is great to be busy, work life balance is the most important thing. I believe that there is so many of us that love to work and feel the need to express ourselves. However, we have to always remember what is important, which is our own health and peace. I find that while I get older, doing what I love matters so much, but I also love my downtime with my family, along with my own time for me. I love wellness days for myself, and splurge in my spas, gym time, and my healthy smoothies. I have also learned to rest before busy weeks ahead. I no longer look forward to burning the midnight oil. Rather, prepare for a busy week with rest and peace.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a trained paralegal. I have my Master’s Degree in Marketing, and am a Certified Paralegal. Having a father who was a lawyer, I loved the complexity of the legal world, but since I also have the love for music, spend a lot of time releasing my creative juices through choreography, singing, dancing, directing, styling, coaching from modeling, public speaking, to dancing and singing/acting. I also love art and have a love for food, fashion and travel. It was not easy balancing my professional career as a Senior Paralegal/Legal Operations Manager, and also my creative side. I do feel that I do it well. I enjoy both very much. I believe I am good at all of these things, and challenging myself to be the best I can be, and inspiring others is exactly what keeps me going. I want the world to know that you don’t have to only be about one story. You can have multiple chapters in your life, learn various trades, try different talents and see which one you want to do more of. We don’t know what we love until we try different things and that’s how we find our passion. I find that I am passionate about so many things, that it is easy to get distracted. Having to tie all these talents together is what I believe I do best, and that is what I am so proud of. I want people and mainly my kids to know that you don’t have to piece talents and hobbies out separately, rather, you can make every skillset you have connect, and that in itself is a talent!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles is my city. I know the city very well. Having worked in Century City/Beverly Hills for over 20 years, and living in the suburban area outside of Los Angeles, I can honestly say that I know most great spots and restaurants! I would first start with Hollywood, mainly on Selma, where all the fun, hot restaurants are. I would then make my way to Orange County, where I would show the best of Newport Beach. The best hotels are near the beach, and the places to eat are even better, especially if you love seafood. I would try to catch a show at Pantages Theater or Segerstrom, then hit a rooftop or lounge after to unwind and have a cocktail or two! I do know some promoters in Los Angeles that get us in the best clubs if dancing is in the itinerary!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to my family, particularly, my sister, my mom and my three children! At the beginning of it all, my family has been about music for as long as I can remember. I have been singing, dancing, competing, acting since I was a young child. My mom is a classical pianist, and she taught us all how to play and how to sing. She is very creative and loves music. I grew up listening to her play the piano, and she personally taught me how to sing. Our whole family is talented. My sister is a song writer, and singer. My brother went to AMDA, school of arts in NYC. He sings, dances and also acts. We all love to sing and perform together. Rising Stars Music Studio in Walnut was created by my mom, Aurora. She deserves all the shout out for being our matriarch and our foundation. She is the blueprint. Our love for music is because of my mom. So, shout out to my mom, Aurora! She is the reason behind it all!
