Meet Mae Jo | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mae Jo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mae Jo, what do you attribute your success to?
I want to inspire people, I think anything in life can inspire someone to be someone the want to be or so something they want to do. I want to inspire people from Paraguay, and everyone else in the world to believe in themselves, to be their true self and to be themselves. I want to achieve my dreams and with them help other, inspire others, and hopefully if I’m lucky to have a voice that matters to people to use that voice carefully and with purpose.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I don’t think I’m close at all to where I want to be, but I don’t think I’ll give up either. I’ve been through a lot so far, many ups and downs more downs to be honest, but many lessons that taught me a lot, I became stronger and smarter and I am who I am because of them, I wouldn’t change anything. Having gone through so much makes it even more exciting to me to keep going and continue to believe in myself, because only the ones who really want something will continue and not give up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them on friday on a hike, then to grab a matcha latte or coffee and a pastry or a bagel or whatever they feel like eating, fruits and snacks, then maybe cook something, burgers and veggies and avocado, make a matcha latte again, gossip a bit, and then dinner at horses, two blocks away from me. Saturday I would take them to Nobu for lunch, and thena. bit of shopping, maybe grab some ice cream, and then I would take them to the apple pan or craig’s, and maybe the movies after that. On sunday I would do an early hike in malibu, lunch after at the malibu country mart, grab a matcha latter at sunlife organics, and then the beach, probably point dume. Dinner after at Giorgio baldi’s and then a movie with snacks and wine or any drink we like.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all God, I truly believe I wouldn’t be here doing it or trying to do it, and second my parents, another reason why I’m still here and it is still possible for me to do this. Every artist I listen to and aspire to be like deserves recognition for inspiring me.
