We had the good fortune of connecting with Mariana Budal and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mariana, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Well I always felt like I was shy kid growing up, but inside of me all I wanted was to feel seen, heard and I loved expressing myself through drawing, dancing, singing and theater. I see the artistic side of me it’s the exactly person I truly am when I don’t care about what others might think and I feel free to be, invent, change and try new styles. I feel like I have no more restriction on myself, the shyness I had as a kid now kit’s just a memory left behind me.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. It’s been a journey of persistence, learning, and growth. There were times when I doubted my path, especially when facing rejections or creative blocks. What sets me apart is my unique approach to songwriting and storytelling. I believe music is about creating genuine connections, and I pour my own experiences, emotions, and observations into every song l write. This authenticity that resonates with my music, and that’s something I’m incredibly proud of.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well I love Santa Monica! I would definitely take them to check the promenade and walk around the pier! One of my favorite spots here in LA!
The 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica is a vibrant, pedestrian-only street packed with shops, restaurants, street performers. If I were taking my best friend there, we’d definitely spend time checking it out.
The other place I love going to is the
The Rainbow Bar and Grill is such a legendary spot! It’s got that old-school rock ‘n’ roll vibe, and it’s a must-visit for anyone who loves music history. It’s also a great place to grab a solid meal, After dinner, the upstairs bar is always fun to check it out. It’s one of those iconic places where you never know who you might run into, and that’s part of the magic! I once met one of my favorite musicians there, Yungblud! We chatted for about 30 minutes about music and it was a great experience that I will never forget.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to the people who have supported and inspired me along the way.
I also want to give a huge shoutout to my close friends, especially those who’ve been there during late-night brainstorming sessions, listened to rough drafts of my songs, and pushed me to keep going when I felt stuck. Their honest feedback and unwavering support have been instrumental in shaping my journey..
