We had the good fortune of connecting with Marisa Renfro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marisa, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is essential in any new business venture! From the beginning of my career, playing it safe was not in the cards for me. I’ve turned down great jobs in hopes of landing that dream job, I’ve left dream jobs to start my own companies. Without these risks, I would not be where I am today. Casamia was born during a global pandemic, when everything was shutting down. My partner and I took a risk on a new idea and put everything we had towards it. While terrifying at the moment, a year later we are able to watch our business flourish.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Casamia specializes in curated tablescapes allowing you to host seamlessly at home. Every box we launch fills a different need, some needs you didn’t even know you had until you met the box! We source products from around the world as well as design our own. We pride ourselves on delivering items you wouldn’t find everyday to your doorstep making Casamia your not-so-secret weapon for having fun! Starting any new business has it’s challenges, luckily my business partner is the ying to my yang and we can play off each others strengths! This is not for the fainthearted, roadblocks pop up daily and you need to be nimble and okay that things will change and may not be as you planned. Casamia was started to bring people together, it is not always easy to get your family or friends around the dinner table and we are here to change that. The memories made at the table will last you a lifetime!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would start out hiking Temescal Canyon, enjoy a long lunch at Polo Lounge, see an exhibit at the Broad and enjoy a rooftop dinner at the Proper Hotel.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband, Frank Renfro, has given me the confidence to be a risk taker and go after my dreams of being an entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur himself, his advice and guidance has lead me to my current career path!
