Meet Mark Sarian | Actor, Writer, Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mark Sarian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mark, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Patience. I’m an impatient person to begin with so wanting things to work, pan out, take hold, etc. is really hard for me once I set a plan into motion. But looking back, if I had slowed down, taken my time, and really researched what I wanted my end goal to be, I would have saved a lot of time and frustration. It’s not easy and there’s no silver bullet. It’s mostly trial and error. But within that trial, take your time. Learn the steps. Be curious about what you don’t know and learn it. Then when an error does occur, and it will, you’re better equipped to handle it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As any actor/writer in LA, it’s all about the side-hustle. And Dog Park Ltd. has become mine. The entertainment business is changing and morphing into something new and it seems so far that it’s leaving more and more artists behind. So we look to things that feed our passion. Keep us interested. Push us. And what better way to focus wandering energy than into dogs.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A typical ‘night out’ that would combine all my limited knowledge of LA’s food and drink scene, specifically here in Los Feliz, would be: Drinks at The Dresden then dinner at All Time. If we were heading downtown, it would be drinks at Bar Henry followed by dinner at, in my humble opinion, the best restaurant in Los Angeles, Bavel. If we were heading west, then it would be drinks at Melrose Umbrella Company and dinner at Dan Tana’s. You’re seeing a pattern here.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I can speak to two people that have encouraged, supported, and educated me along my way. First and foremost is my very patient wife, who along with our two dogs, watch and wait for me to figure it out and succeed. But along the way, without them, I would be a slushy mess of indecision and constant self-sabotage. And that’s where my friend, and co-owner, Eli comes in. He’s as curious and ambitious as I am and that makes for a great partnership. He’s my sounding board, and I, his. He’s also the business’ conscious. He stops me from winning out of control and helps to focus ideas and generate new and better ones.
