We had the good fortune of connecting with Matheus Macedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matheus, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
For my horror/scifi podcast SessionsX, I was a writer who had to submit work to platforms and got rejections so I decided to make my own and put it out there myself.
For my clothing line Eden Rose Apparel on Etsy, I wanted to share perspectiveves that could change minds and empower those who hear the words, they are ideas that changed my own way of thinking, like “Eden is a choice” and “Presence is Peace”, the former meaning that our most desired reality and a better world lie in the decisons we make every day, and the latter the idea that it’s only in being present in this moment that we find peace.
I wanted to share the ideas that helped me grow and heal and become someone who was more conscious, healed, and present in my life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been writing for about twenty years, with 99.9 percent of that being unpaid. My creativity doesn’t come from a wish to get something material in return but rather as a way to express and hopefully connect with others, and not only share myself but my experience so others may learn and grow and be guided through their own turmoil. Not all I write is for this reason but much of it is. Some of my writing is meant to be a reflection of humanity back to humanity. I think in sharing art, we not only share our souls but also advance the evolution of human conciousness. Artists hold a mirror from many angles and show us how to empathize with those we don’t know. We also record what is happening in this period of time, so the future can see and learn and grow from it.
I’m proud of leaving a workplace where I was treated withou respect, even though it paid more money than I’ve ever made and I got to write works that was seen by millions. I chose myself, and in the hard times that follow financially speaking, I grew to learn more of who I was, and to release my attachment to money as the thing that provided peace and joy, that now came within and from God who provided everything I needed when there was seemingly no way to attain it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take them to universal studios, Harry Potter World is awesome, we’d have butter beers and maybe go to the Getty, I’d take them to see the Batman statue in Burbank outside the AMC theater, and hopefully see the sunset at Sanat Monica Beach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As an immigrant, I have to shoutout my dad who worked two full time jobs back to back to get the family stable and continued working all day everyday for decades, as well as my mom who worked just as hard and kept all the details in order. Their faith was also a great inspration to me. And even though many who use the term Christian to justify their own, harmful pursuits, I give credit to the example and guidance of Jesus who called on us to love one another, act from integrity, and share all we have with friends and strangers, as well as loving our enemies.
